Looks like his chain is sharp.... the saw lacks @$$... slightest bit of pressure and it falls flat, just like the original.
My thoughts too. If you’ve ever run a modern Stihl out of the box, they lack torque in a noticeable way until the tank count hits double digits.

It’s a 60cc class saw like the 562 it’s not going to like to be reefed on.
I didnt realize they had drop the CC from 67 to 62... sickening
But plenty will stick a 32” bar on it with skip tooth chain and *b-word because it doesn’t oil or pull it well.
I'm sure it will be a good saw once ported and an oiler adjustment is made... I used to stick the largest bar on my saws... then i realized if it isnt needed why use it... if i have to adjust the saw i will... plus the cuts are faster... with that said, I stick with either a 20"-25" bar. If there is big wood I have the 28-36" bars ready.
I wouldn't run nothing more than a 20" on the 400.1... but that's me.

It’s close to 63 and basically the halfway between the current 400 and 362 which are 66.7 and 59. I suppose since it was replacing both and nobody had a 67cc competitive saw they just split the difference and now are a direct 562 competitor. No more people complaining it has more displacement now it will be fair when the new one is faster than the 562.

Then you’ll never need a new oiler

The 400C has more "torque" than any 60cc class Stihl going back to the 036.

Lol good that 67cc has more torque than 60cc,
but If you really wanna more torque, buy a 462.

I'd much rather run a 044/440 than a 462. I'll tote the .5 pound increase and the 2cc loss. Toss on a Big Bore and the 044/440 is a lightweight strong saw for the cc's...
To each their own though.

If you build an actual hybrid with a oem 046 cylinder yes they’re nice but I’ve ran some chineseum big bores that were nothing special.

Agreed. I used a 381 cylinder... the saw is a beast... I've seen 044/440 with 046/460 builds that weren't anything special too. When the hybrid build is right... they're a mean saw!!!

Iv had a bark box on mine since new and it pulls a 28 pretty good for what it is. I dont expect it to pull like my 066 but it works well.
I never even tried running it with stock muffler cover so not sure how it is stock but cant be too far off.

If you’re easy on the rakers and can keep the rpm’s pretty high a saw will oil a bar that’s “too long” for it. Maybe it’s a little harder on the saw but longer bars save the operator, I’d rather rebuild a saw than pay for spinal surgery

The current 400 runs a 25-28” really nice when ported even with full comp.

Isn’t a 381 cylinder and open transfer saw with bigger squish for poor fuel in certain parts of the world?

It was a closed port AM cylinder/piston kit. I had to do a lot of work to get it to fit on the case, not to mention I had to cut a different angle on the exhaust flange.
