Yeah I’m not sure I like the combination of relatively heavy-er piston and lighter crank though. I guess time will tell how well they hold up if the rumors prove true.

For me the current 400 is a know quantity and I like my MMWS version a bunch! It has stolen run time from my 50cc saws and my 7910( which I like a whole bunch too).

I completely agree with the light weight rotating assembly, seems to Swedish too me and I hope they don’t go down that road of crank failures. Could keep the 400 as is dump the 362 anyway, still as light or a touch lighter than a 562 and has more power.

Aside from this talk about a 400.1, how many versions of this MS400 is their? What I mean by that is, is there a preferred model year to look for that may have updated parts or small revisions?

No arctic package available on the current 400 but will be offered on the new version. That‘s how I stumbled upon this new saw was researching if heated handles were an option.

At this stage I think I'm sold on buying the current model. 67cc fits nicer between my 550XP and PS7900 than the new one.
I'll be running an 18" bar, I'd rather live with the additional 300g and have the extra torque.

So far my guess is: 62.6 cc new saws 363.0 and 400.1 would be "the same" except of the carb adjustment (perhaps also coil, piston, ...?). Cc-wise it will fit just between 261 and 462. So basically one model will replace 59.0 cc 362 and 66.8 cc 400. And last but not least, both well established model names "36x" and "400" will remain, so marketing dept is happy.

I'm curious to see what intake and carb the new ms400 will have. If the new 400 has the front-fed transfers, and similar intake, I think it will be a nice saw...even at 62cc. Has anyone heard when to expect these in the US?

nda odd/pointless to have two pro saws that close in displacement/power, no?
That MS36X Series is pretty iconic too, I'd hate to see it go. The MS360 was the first real saw I ever bought.
363 will probably go, no point in it.

Personally I think this is a step backwards, why would you go away from the light piston that should help save the crank and bearings, go to a smaller cc “I’m assuming to get the piston weight down” and then go to a new light weight crank to make it rev like the 400 all while cranking it up some porting wise to keep the same power and loosing a little weight on saw overall.
I think they are cheaping out, and it will come back to haunt them, it seems to all about the bean
counters these days.
Lightweight shaft is concerning, given same power output and heavier piston.

I’m not going with the cheaping out thing it’s all about the users wanting the saw companies to save every ounce. The new one is 10 oz lighter I guess so same power less weight ect.

Disappointed, I was looking for a 400i.

Don’t really know how fast the injection will spread, they finally just came out with a new
Injection engine for concrete saws that’s 102cc. The ts500 I was long before the saw and it took probably 15 years for the second model of injected demo saw. Yes they had one called the 450 or something but it was basically a ts500i with smaller cutting wheel
