It's only going to get worse as time goes by. There are more and more younger guys wanting to get these saws and parts, and the supply is dwindling fast. What's not helping is the kart
guys that are stealing the saw motors to keep their karts running, and then the *a-holes like me that have hoarded big stashes of these saws and parts. It's happening with all of the big
desirable saws - Homie 3100G, Dolmar 166, Solo Twins, PM 275, etc. It's just as bad on Craigslist here. There was a clapped out old 125 up on the Portland Craigslist recently that sold
for $800. A good-looking 3100G went for $1300 on the Spokane Craigslist a few months ago.

I don't know about that. If it's a saw from a known, reputable builder (like Lee), then people are willing to pay top dollar. I know Lee has gotten good money for his restored saws.

SP125‘s are cool saws but a 3100g is a bad mofo I’d like to have. There’s an 1130g with b/c on eBay for $975 I think? Didn’t think that was horrible.

If your looking for an 1130G hit me up with a pm. I have a few. 3100G's are a tough one to find.

Yet another idea on the repair of a bearing pocket .CR makes a ring they call a "speedi-sleeve " which is normally used to build up a damaged /worn area of a shaft so a seal would work .It could be a remedy for a bearing pocket .It would not be inexpensive though .There's always a way you just need to find it .I'm a firm believer that anything made by human hands can not only be duplicated but also repaired if necessary .
Fact I've told two wives and one live in I can fix anything from a battle ship to a broken heart .The later just takes longer .

Hoping to find a 3100g one of these days!! They are tough to find.

3100Gs are one of the strongest saws ever made - I've owned two in my lifetime and the first one was a brutally strong runner.

Although I've never seen one it would make sense a 3100 Homie would be a red wood slayer. The same 7 cubic inch engine as my avatar saw with a 2 or 3 to one reduction unit .That thing could drag you over a log if you didn't hook it good with the dawg .With the reduction unit it most likely isn't fast but nearly impossible to stall in a cut .

Those 3100's are plenty fast in big wood & long bars as long as the chain is setup properly. I dare say a 3100 with 1/2" chisel and rakers down .020 or better will smoke a 125 running .404 both with 50" bars in the same log.

Makes me wonder how many are sitting in garages here in the PNW. I’m sure there are some old Wayerhaeuser saws just waiting to be found.

There are probably just as many sitting in the bottom of lakes and bays that were also used as boat anchors.... and probably just as many were tossed into the landfill.

I bet there are many nice saws sitting in storage waiting to be found

There is some merit to half inch chain which does take a mighty bite .I only have one and it's a McCulloch 650 with a two to one reduction and an 8 tooth from a big old Homelite .It's surprised a lot of people .It doesn't shine until you get into larger stuff which in Ohio doesn't happen that often .That old dude will noodle like a planner running pine .It will will put you ankle deep in fluffy in a very short time .

Now all that said just where pray tell would you ever find 1/2" chisel ? 1/2" chipper is hard enough to find .

Look for 1/2" chisel on old saws at swap meets and flea markets.

I had a partial roll of that early Oregon 1/2" pitch "Micro Chisel" when they first came out with that tooth profile. It was more of a semi-chisel chain than a true square chisel but it sure cut good when you put a fresh edge on it.

I ran some on a 1-82 I had at the shop for a long time (50" bar) and it would pull pretty big chips in green Doug Fir or Sugar Pine.

On the west coast you might find it. Here most likely not .Some time ago I found a short roll of Oregon 12 on flea bay very reasonable .Later I bought about 40 pounds of NOS loops of everything from mini mac chains up to two or three longer loops of something like Oregon 12 branded Homelite .That box BTW had a couple of loops of .404 Partner chisel in .058 which is what the bar is on the avatar saw also not too easy to find .I could use that long bar on the 650 Mac because I have the 8 tooth spurs in .404 .It's highly unlikely I will though .

Your troubles just melt away when you're running big iron in decent wood. This one is still one of my all-time favorites, it got a light port job last winter:

Couldn’t agree more. Drowns out all other sounds. Great power at the tip of your trigger finger.
Running one for 6-8 hours in the woods may be a different story though. Lol. Does feel good to let the big boys eat!
