I don't think I'd want to take a chance on a LRB South American piston in a 125. That's just my gut feeling.
Me either! Plus the major design flaws! The hole in the exhaust port side is a problem, and I think the pin design is for a kart style press fit pin into the rod meant for bearings in the piston, and that is not the 125 style.I don't think I'd want to take a chance on a LRB South American piston in a 125. Or pulled from the grave… And almost sold for a grand! LOL
I remember 10 years ago buying a couple a couple of strong runners for well under $400 on Ebay.I remember about 15 years ago when I got into macs, I could find these for sale under 500 for a runner! But what 20 year old with a mortgage could afford that then? Now I just see them as something that would look pretty on my shelf. Besides, I'd rather spend that money on a road trip. I hear there are a few around your place...
You were definitely money ahead to buy a house at that age! $500 was/is a lot for an old saw! The saw market is crazy sometimes on these. I picked up a decent condition 125 7ish year ago for $50 and it had a nice 36” bar, had it running in less than 15, minutes after getting it home. And about 10 years ago I got a free one, that was busted up, got it running but the chrome pealed. And now you can’t touch one! Not to derail this thread...I bought my 2 125's long enough ago they didn't go for much .One I did do a lot of work on like making a cast iron sleeve for it but the other one basically nothing but a paint job .Both from the PNW . The Homelite 2100 S in my avatar was inexpensive also but again that was 12 to 15 years ago .
Nothing I want to part with
I'd say the auction might take a few days .
Sounds great!! Always feels good to bring one back!Another one lives - this is my very last oversize SP motor, also .030" over. It came from a smashed saw given to me by a long time local timber faller that smashed it in 1979. It sat in a box in his shop for 30 years before I got it.
