Thanks for trying to make this work.

I second that Randy. I know I've busted your chops a little about it, but its been in fun. Keep that big bastid as long as you like till you get it how you want it. I know it will be a monster when it is done. As you know, I have another saw.

I got my 7910 ported by Randy a little over a year ago and I couldnt be happier with it. When Randy sent it to me I had some busted fingers so while healing I sent the carb off to Poleman.
Where is Rich? It would be nice to see him posting here.

I sent him a text, and a link to the site. He should show up here soon.

Looking at a new 7310 Dolmar. Obviously my cheap ass can make a good deal. What's the ups and downs of it versus a 7300 or 7900/7910?

Slightly smaller bore. I thought Carl @Miller Mod Saws said the transfers were also slightly different. They're probably pretty close, power wise.

You'd like the 7300/7310!!!!! Very, very close to the 7900/7910 in power. I can't really tell the difference with a 24" bar....the 7900 takes over above that...couple more cc's probably the difference. Guessing at looking at the 7300 cylinder I would say the transfers are open a little more due to slightly smaller piston size.

Either was a DANG GOOD runner!!!!! My opinion is it's a little quicker than a 7900/7910 (could be carb I'm using). It's kinda like the difference between a MS 440 and a MS460.

Hopefully that's an acceptable explanation???

And some finish pics. This cylinder is at 100/128/81. View attachment 3832View attachment 3833View attachment 3834
I'd like to thank Carl for doing the cylinder in these pics for my Dolkita 7910 and just say that I am extremely happy with it. I'm running a 24" bar on the saw currently and had it buried in 24"+ red oak yesterday several times as well as did quite a bit of noodling quartering up those rounds. I was super impressed with the RPM's the saw ran in the cut, and how well it maintained them when dogged in and levering on it!

Plus one. Id like to see some build threads of some saws that have been overlooked and discredited by the "elitist" class. That Echo cs520 you ported for me as my first saw- was a MONSTER! We all know a 550, 562, 372, 390, 440, 461, etc can be made to run. And there have been numerous threads on them in years past, which contributes to them being sought after models for the masses. Id like to see factual unbiased threads on some saws that aren't as popular. A thread is a cheap way for the viewer to get a look at a model and what it is capable of, without bearing the expense of purchasing.

I couldn't have said it better myself. Not to hijack this thread but that is a big reason I bought the 800p and a big reason that Randy is porting it. He's proven he has an open mind and isn't afraid of the underdogs.

I would really like to see a build thread on the 800p also. If it turns out to be a good runner, it might be an eye opener for many. As busy as Randy is, I feel a little guilty for typing this...but it would be interesting:).
