That's just an oil pocket...

Now you know what dosent work for you.

Couldn't tell from the video, did you try and drop the bar into the squish, trying to use the whole insert?

Or set the cut and feed it to the edge?
It wasn't a good video but I brought it .002 up from squish and then ran it over until I touched the edge. Completely wrong style of cutter for what I was tryin to accomplish

I couldn't tell from the pics but if you don't gouge it in the ring travel it will probably work any way .

Looking at that how high up did it go through the plating? With the crown to the ring there may be still hope. When i had a guy cut my squish band he didnt have it centered and cut the plating but it did not effect where the ring rode and i out it together and she is still holding a strong 200 on the comp.

Oh Lawdy if that brazed carbine bar gouged those insert bars would really do a number if they got away .

I didn't pay much attention to that mill but if it's like a Bridgeport you can tighten the spindle bearings if they have any slop in them .
I've been guilty of forgetting to lock down the table before cutting with an offset type of bar and that can screw you up too .Then again people who don't fork up on occasion usually are arm chair quarter backs who don't do anything but talk chit about something .Invention is 10 percent inspiration and 90 percent perspiration .

Table was locked in X, Y, & Z axis. our machine is nice and tight, but I'll check out the spindle bearings anyway. Thanks for the tip
