Looks good friend.

It's exciting to me to see so many people getting serious about porting. This place has opened a lot of doors for people to learn.

Thank you.

And to think just 2 years ago I thought saws came from home depot. Throw em away and get new when they stop....

My how things change.

Things change indeed.
You would think a man in my position would grow tired of saws but it just keeps getting worse,it's basically all I think about.

About 50% of my work is for return customers. 30% is new saws, and the rest is new customers. I've not been advertising at all.......and will not be scheduling new jobs until May. I never dreamed I would provide a service that has turned out to be so popular. I know I don't build the fastest saws........but I do take good care of my customers.

I stay busy as I want with repair work,I port several saws still but it's has definitely slowed down.

I got cows and timber to cut and operating to do still so it's not a bad thing for me to slow down.

I'll still port a few saws a month but nothing like a few years ago.

To change gears, let's talk about cuttin squish by hand with a mandrel, from start to finish. Say your using 1/4 hss, how is it mounted? Also how do you keep from scraping the plateing with the cutter when dropping the jug down.

Never done this before, just lookin for some methods or tips.

And this is sufficient to not leave a small lip?

I thought it was customary to take an extra thou or so when cuttin squish band

The easiest way is to have your mandrel a few thou small. Then leave your cutter out a couple thou. That gives you room to get it on without scratching the bore, and you can push against the cutter and over cut a couple thou.

On a 66 you will run out of skirt before you can get a ring up there so I don't over cut.

I've had a small lip on mine that the piston would catch, but pass by. I want plenty of room.
