Magic Marker (Professionals choice) shows the piston at BDC. Also note it is just shy of the ring popping out at the top. Looked back at what I thought was the right thing to time it and I was all off, so that's out the window. This was not done by the "numbers" was an idea from an old two stroke racing mechanic that I know, this was also done on some production outboard motors. The next time I put a degree wheel to it to get something by the numbers, I will see where these open. Most everything I'm doing here is coming straight outta my posterior end here fellas. If I were smart I'd order some more pistons as I only had two, and am already on the second one. I'm doing all these things to try and make a Hot racing saw, which is way above my pay grade. I do however like the challenge and it is fun to see what can be made to work. I know some are strange to the chainsaw world but not one thing I'm doing here has not been tried before, just in a motorcycle or a snowmobile or an outboard marine motor. The quicker I get these ideas outta my head the better off I'll be. Not trying to change the chainsaw world here, but just figured just maybe at 1000 to 1 shot I could pull off a decent rig and be competitive. Can't do that if I do what everybody else does and I surely don't want others following in my half baked footsteps. I wish I could explain things betterer and understand the "numbers" betterer and stuff, but I don't maybe I never will I don't know. Mostly I just look at where things relate to each other and work off that. Wish there was a set of directions to go with this, can't find them either. Will it go, will it blow? Heck if I know. I do know more WTF moments are to follow... :)

I do know one thing, as it was reported to me. When I learned of this, I originally planned on just drilling holes, was told not to bother with them that they had to be slots, as this is what tested best at the factory.

Cut off a hunk of UHMW and was surprised when I could not chuck it up in the lathe. I thought it would fit, now I know better. Need a plan B, and I think when the new drill press arrives I can come up with something. So I smoothed the inside of the piston, not to reshape it, just get rid of flash and logos and such that don't need to be there. Took out the muffler and contemplated my moves on that. I don't think I like the muffler much...
