Hey Mike, I'm not knocking how anyone else handles their build, if you want longevity then some things are going to need replaced. I'm going for the opposite I want to see what's going to fail and why. This is just my agenda, I don't expect any one else to do what I do by any means. Having used parts from these folks in the past with very mixed and sometimes confusing results, I just can't but help be curious to know what can take this level of abuse that it was never designed for. Was just explaining to all why I'm worried about some things and others not so much. I think your oiler fix is going to be just great and even if it does soften up it really has no where to go and by then I'll be finished messing with it anyways.

I dig it. Only thing OEM on mine is the chain adjuster as well. That is only because the one that came with the kit failed on the first try. I just so happened to have one from an 034 super which was already in pieces so it got used. Along with a bar and chain as well. They don't really count, weren't supplied with the kit and were already here as well.

I did not do any of the cool mods you are doing, but I also view it as a test bed, of both the P&C and the rest of the saw.

Ran 2 more tanks through mine today milling Hickory, and all is fine so far. I'm wondering how long it will go, and what the weak link will be, but it may just surprise me an keep running! It seems to be doing a great job milling!

I'll post some pics on my Flying Tiger thread.

Milling is about as good a torture test as you could come up with I think. Glad to hear it's holding up for you.

Was either that or port the living ____ out of it. Like I said at the beginning, a lot of different things were to be tried. I very well could fail, if so a piston is a much cheaper one than a cylinder. Trying to see what can be done without traditional port work, was my original thinking, even though I am set up now, I'd still like to go with that idea. I did set the distance with normal techniques found on the forum. Also this is not the first time it's been done, not by a long shot. Also not a work saw, racing only, where the only bad idea is the one not tried. If I fall, I'll just have to do better next time.

I understood that to begin with Sir, I'm looking to see what the actual difference is timing wise, I love the outside of the box stuff happening in this build.

I think the last time I saw a bunch of people give a guy a bunch of chit for irregular porting was on AS when @Chainsaw Jim hogged the hell out of the transfers in a 372. Everyone bashed him for 5 pages until tree monkey came along and praised him for thinking outside the box and quieted them all down.

Well, that. And the fact that it ran pretty dang good once he got videos of it.

I'm glad we're over that stage where we now can offer assistance or say "More power to ya", rather than beat up on a guy for doing his own thing.

Steve, it might suck, and it might not. But we won't know until you're done. Well done

Seeing this piston notch just gave me an idea. Instead of trying to get the roof of the exhaust port flat as possible wouldn't matching the top of the piston to the port achieve the same out come?

If this was your original idea then I'm going to totally rip it.
And when this saw gets fired up I hope all of it is on video!
