Keep on yapping. But you're still babbling about something that you have no experience with.

My advice is mostly for guys who spend more time running saws...as opposed to guys who spend more of their time sitting on their ass talking about saws on a forum. You probably fit into the second category, so a healthier bar oil shouldn't concern you.

"Well, it was a good conversation..."

It was. But a couple guys who have NEVER tried Canola oil are claiming that its the "dumbest thing they ever heard". .....and trying to dominate the conversation even though they have no clue.
I'd like to see some input from someone who used Canola oil for at least a few weeks, and then decided it was no good. I will respect their opinions.

As for "trying to dominate the conversation".......you may have a better reception to your point of view by not calling people *dipstick and *pretty boy.

I was directly responding to a guy who called my ideas "the dumbest thing he ever heard"
I never start trash talk....but I must admit I enjoy returning it once it's started.

Actually, he called using cooking oil in a chainsaw dumb. While that is what you do, it's not your idea. At least, I'm pretty sure it's not your own idea.

Anyway, I'm with Jon on this one. I think everything that you are saying makes sense, but the *dipstick and *pretty boy comments just seem rude, and lessen the credibility of your argument. Just my .02 YMMV.

Not your idea at all, but it may be useful in certain applications. I haven't, and won't try it. After the evidence of gumming, and ahereing to the bar and powerhead, I have no desire to experience this.

I know it's not "my idea". Smart people have been using Canola oil for machine and chain lubrication long before I ever was. Sorry my sentence formation was a bit off, ...he was calling me (or anyone)using Canola as the dumbest thing he ever heard.

Ok gents.

This is a great conversation.....still.

Here at opeforum we do try to be cordial to each other, and I think we are back on track in that respect.

On vegetable oil for bar lube. The only experience I really have with it is trying to clean up a Dolmar that it was used in. It was a real mess that was about impossible to get off the plastics.

Now, if it was a carver, that's what I'd be using. My health is more important than a saw.

If you guys are buying $20+ synthetic bar oil I have something else you should try. It's only $11 a quart...but it's the best:)
