I’m kinda new to this forum saying hi to everyone.

Just get this dirty chainsaw few weeks ago (looked like all original ) with no model identifier anywhere on it. The sticker on the cover is missing so after hours of cleaning, I’ve took some pictures & trying to ask experts on this forum helping to identify what model of the chainsaw is it ?
  • Cylinder Stihl1121 22 w letter B in the middle
  • Carburator stamped number 22C & Stihl marking on its bottom cover.
  • brown air filter with black lever
  • Serial number 220618806
  • leaks lot of oil below the chain bar
some more advices ?
Many thanks in advance

It's now know as a Stihl026 - Many thanks for all helps.

Oil leaking a lot at idle - Have been told that an adjustment oil pump conversion could bring a certain benefit.
Is it worth doing or better off just leaving it alone ?

The oil pump is not clutch driven, so it will constantly pump oil even when the chain is not moving. The 026 Pro came witb a clutch driven pump with adjustable output. Some 026's with the accommodating notch in the case can be converted to the Pro style pump, but you also need the matching clutch drum and oiler drive. Most people agree that it isn't worth the effort.

Functionally, there is no good reason to swap the crank driven oiler for a clutch driven one. I can tell you from experience that it will oil a 25" bar with no issues.
Yes, a clutch driven oiler is going to be less messy with the saw idling, but you need to evaluate how much time you actually leave it sitting idling and not cutting.
There will potentially be less oil run off the bar after you shut the saw down, but there will never be no oil.

the local mechanic shop said - this 026 does not have the oiler adjustment hole in the bottom of the case & needs lot of grinding to accept the conversion. Sounds like I'm better off letting it as is in its original and buy more oil. Thanks to all again !
