Sorry but not about keeping my rant going.
I am slowing down and might use 25-40 gallons of bar oil per year now.
Best case scenario 40 gallons per year at $4.99=$200 vs Stihl at $30=$1200
Last new saw I bought around July was a stock 572XPG at $1049 with 24" b&c

Others might see it differently and that is fine with me!
I see me more jack in my Jeans or one new FREE saw every year complete with brand new oil pump.:aplastao:
You and I think alike. Also why I run Mystik Bar and Chain oil, instead of “premium” brand name. I go through about the same amount per logging season here (cutting and skidding by myself), and keeping costs down is important.

Curiosity question
You have slightly more moderate temps compared to what I described that I encountered in northern Wi back in the day cable skidding with C4 with Detroit which the heater hoses helped with cold start, have you ever resorted to using preheater hoses on equipment or get by without?

Most people I ask have never heard of using preheater hose set up maybe it was only people who ran old equipment used them.

Somedays I miss my logging days and other days I think it is just my brain playing with me. 🥴

My skidder has the quick connects for it. I’ve never needed them. My machine has a Cummins 4bt - no grid heater or glow plugs. When it gets down near 0, a quick little huff of ether helps.
