This is the aftermarket 268 piston. It's made for an open port cylinder. No windows

This is the proper 266/268 closed port windowed piston. This is a meteor but oem looks the same

Thanks for showing me the diff , would it make much diff to the saw if the wrong one was put in , not that i have , need to check the cylinder and piston on mine yet

The windowed piston should be fine in either one. The non windowed one will run in a closed port cylinder, but it won't work very well

a piece off the 394xp cylinder broke off a bolt hole on the base , can it be repaired
and how would it be done
Tig weld i guess but would the base need to be machined
would it be ok once repaired

yep i know , but ive got a 4 yrs old grand daughter
Take the cover off and see if the brake band is broken. Those are hard to find, there's some on eBay UK but the shipping is ridiculously high.
