Good after noon all Ingot me a little 254xp I am rebuilding and it need a new p/c. I have found some used online and was wanting to know whats better a Mahle or KS? And it came with a Mahle. Thanks for the help.

ive used the Mahle cylinders before and find them ok

Thanks the only reason Iam asking this question is those stihl guys like the early KS heads over the other for port timing numbers on a couple saws so I didn't know if any huskys were like that two.

I would go for the KS jug they used in the start, it was thin ring piston, they where used a bit into 1987.
Those I got is labeled 86, their compression chamber is super small compared to all the other 254 jugs.

This i did a rebuild on mine good running not to heavy firewood saw.

This baby is one interesting case.
According Huskies IPL it was first in 1994 that the new type start cover arrived, and the same goes to decomp jug.
My 42 special, 1992 week 46 has the new style start cover and decomp valve.
Never trust those Husky IPL's

Seems to me I came across something similar one time, can't remember which saw. Good thing is if you're versed a bit with what came first on the Husqvarna's, just go forward or backward in time to find what you need, or update what you would like on your saw.

hey gents, got a 350 yesterday in awesome shape. i put new 18" narrow kerf bar an chain on it. i was thinking about putting a ported style muffler on it but want to know whats the best approach to removing the limiter tabs on the carb? and one other question, if i wanted to put a metal clamp on the intake, do i have to take the cylinder off to do it?
