Hey @Squareground3691 that looks like a real nice collection of axes and stuff hanging on the wall there. How bout filling us in on what you got there? Any vintage stuff?
I see a Kelly perfect double bit. I can’t tell much about the others.
Vintage axes, another disease for which there is no cure, however, it can be arrested…

Well, my previously trusty Husky 440 took a crap today. Will start and run for like 5 seconds on full choke then die. Won't start or run on half choke or no choke. Pulled the plug out and it was flooded. Dried the plug and let the cylinder air out, same results. I'm thinking carb problem or vacuum leak. Add it to the growing fix it pile!

Screen is clean as can be. I noticed I can rock the carburetor side to side about 1/4". All the bolts look tight, but I haven't gone further. Is that normal for these? Never had a Husky before.

Carb movement is normal, it is mounted by rubber, carb bolts should be snug. I would check carb needle and diaphragm and do a vacuum check. Much smarter people will be along soon, @Mastermind and know @cuinrearview has worked on many saws of that type.

The 562 I mentioned a page back...I have a new tank coming.

It doesn't look like much (looks like he keeps his saws in a corn crib) but compression is still quite good. Thanks for your input gentlemen.

Such a shame to have to replace the whole tank when you only need the back 1/4 😂

I wonder if the fuel system on the 440 is plugged up. I filled it with fresh fuel and have been starting it every so often. It will start and run on half choke just fine now, still dies as soon as you pull the trigger moving it to off choke. It ran perfectly the last time I really worked it a few months ago.

Reset the carb to factory specs according to the manual. H=2 turns out, L=2.5 turns out. It will now run at WOT choke off, but immediately dies when you let off. Mebbe needs the L opened up more? I added some Berryman's Chemtool cleaner to the fuel, mebbe that will help.

Well, she holds pressure like nobody's business. .1 mpa (whatever the hell that is) perpetually, you can even crank it with no loss. Spec is .08 for 30 seconds. So, am I likely dealing with a carb problem? Numbers on the carb are Zama C1T EL41A 620A.
