@exSW With Husqvarna still making the 272 a lot of cross over parts should be available to you. Also if you have an ohm meter the testing procedures in the Husqvarna manual for the "G" system is a snap to go through and see where you are at with it. I've done it a few times and the tests were spot on. Good luck with your build! Those 266's are strong saws even by today's standards.

I wouldn't do that on a saw that just has the scars of normal use - it removes the historical value of the saw.

We're not talking about a two hundred year old piece of Shaker furniture here.

Certain things I won't redo. Complete original firearms, most old furniture, trucks , tractors and other equipment that aren't already hacked up. But a thirty year old chainsaw that's going back to work?

Nice bar Ross.
I put a full skirt piston fron a 266 in my jred 670. I later replaced it with one without the full skirt and gained some rpm in the cut. Meteor makes one with or without windows. You want the windowed one

That being said, if you want a Golf piston exactly like the one you have there, lemme know. It has 1 tank of fuel on it

Gonna need the larger carb to go with the open skirt windowed piston,224..... 224,c.163 will work but not well.

Don't know what I'm doing yet. The jug looks good. I checked it with the calipers the other day and it's a light 50mm(49.95ish). May just go with a stock Husky slug if available and priced right. With working heat it is a collector saw even if I am going to run it. Why cheap out over 20-30 bucks.
