I didn’t take many pictures of them at the time but here is one. Some of the larger ones were 30-40+” diameter. This one was around 30” diameter and was 110’ feet tall, those are 8” wedges.
What the heck do you do with that little dinky wedge driver? Get something with a longer handle, council tool. Itll drive them in with a hell of alot less effort. Plus you can slip your gas and oil down over the handle for easier carrying.
That’s a real nice looking log. Did you use it for firewood or mill it? Most of my test wood is garbage or low quality end cuts. I can’t cut the nice stuff into cookies. Lol
Wow, awesome hoard of wood!I sold that log and some others. I sometimes have boards sawed by the Amish for my own use but all my sheds are full. I am a woodworker. They charge me 17 cents a foot to saw and have it all stacked and strapped on my trailer when I pick it up. I cut the log a little long so I could use it as a test.
Wow better but a few feet off of that. Worthless until the shake clears up. Poor soil and an old tree.
Yup I agree. Low grade garbage buttlog, even the next log wasn’t that great. We did get one nicer 3rd log then the rest was just kind of top lol. Kind of short tree, grew on ridge top. I think it was about 80ft tall. It sure was fun to cut it down though lol.

If the first 12 feet aren't choice wood the 3rd cut isnt going to be any better. Taper knots false limb knots etc. Maybe your hardwood markets are different but here you better have good clear logs or your getting pallet price. Central PA.Don’t get all Dennis Cahoon on me
Yeah that don't really mean shyt up this way. But each buyer/respective market is its own. I've cut cherry that had 8 foot of garbage azz butt log, but the remainder of the tree was clean, clear and paid. Very rocky up my way, even a tree showing outstanding health can be compromised by poor soil, rocks/boulders etc.
