Stihl 400c or 462c

If you’re planning on buying a 90cc size saw in the future I’d go 400. But if you’re planning on this saw being your “big” saw in a 3 saw lineup, I’d go with the 462.

A ported 241c and non ported 261

I’d dump the 241 for possible parts availability issues in the future.

Get the 261 ported and buy a 462. Later on, port the 462. You could cover a lot with those 2 saws.

Good idea but man that MM ported 241 keeps right up with my buddie’s ported 346xp. It’s a blast to run in smaller wood.

Yes the 241 is good when ported but not 346xp good. 346 is still king of the 50 cc class as much as I like Stihl.

I’ll try to remember to video a head to head if we get together sometime. It’s really close. Close enough I wouldn’t trade him saws.

As others have said, if your ms241 is stock and runs with a "ported" 346xp, the port job on the 346 was trash.

Yep, glad I squirreled another one away before they weren’t available.

My local McCoys lumber yard had a blowout sale on them when they were discontinued to the tune of $749 a piece. Why I didn't load down on them I'll never know.

He told me that they pulled a completely scored Mag piston ot of a saw they purposely leaned the shít out of and the jug looked brand new. Zero issues with the plating.

Well, after looking at a V2 today at my local farmers co-op, I swear it looks like a longer chassis. Maybe @Mastermind or someone else can chime in. Are the cases longer on the V2?

They didn’t have a storage case to check with while I was there. Evidently everyone in the county is getting a new saw with case this year for Christmas, lol. My buddy said they sold 28 saws last Saturday alone. He is completely out of lower end saws up to the farm boss. He has several 500i, 462, 400s in stock. He also has a 461 on a top shelf covered in dust .
