Im gonna try to whittle a hole through the baffle before we install this one. Seems like the 55 I had way back was a two piece muffler?? It has been awhile though...
I'm going to add a second deflector in front of the supplied one.
one of your'n deflectors.
It'll allow me access to cut the box out.
Good luck pulling this previously 2 piece muffler apart.

This should be open enough for the 55.

Well here's my long awaited jonsered 666!
266 cylinder on here sanded squish from .016 to .020, timing advance, .020 off intake side piston skirt, raised uppers to 122 and exaust to 102, intake should be about 74.
Runs pretty well, I'm happy but we shall see once it breaks in. I'm curious to see how it compares to my strongest 670.

Finally built my Jonsered 672 project. :)

Starting point was this 1992 625. Picked up by a former girlfriend at a yard sale for just $10. Key thing for me was to retain the Jonsered "choke set" fast idle while using the 272 intake block. The Huskys have the "thumb set" fast idle on the tank. So, if you just went with the Husky carb, there'd be no fast idle at all. Solution for me was to use this 670 carb and drill it out so the carb could be impulsed through the intake block instead of the external pulse line as used on the 625 and 670. The indentation for the drill is already there and you have to drill back to the second hole. Then, change the top plate of the carb to get rid of the extra nipple for the pulse line.

Gasket delete gives it some nice compression. Added this extra exhaust port using a 288 deflector. These old muffs had a decent sized hole to begin with, so gains from the muff mod are not as dramatic as on some other saws. These old muffs are gold too, cause new OEM items are now baffled inside vs these originals that were all open inside.

Looking Forward to Sunday! You bringing that saw up to the farm? Have a bunch of Ash Tree's that need to get turned into firewood....

Yup, this one is on the duty roster for Sunday. Need to give it a good workout, and there's no shortage of opportunities up there. :)

Hooray 26620191010_185730.jpgdialing in a china carb for a customer's saw.
Running it on one of my 266s
I bought a couple of bad carbs from Amazon.
These last two 10.00 ebay jobbies have worked great.
