After 5 year's I finally ripped all the rubber mounts from my 266 stumpshot special IMG_20230125_160948295.jpgIMG_20230125_161055740.jpgIMG_20230125_174028761.jpg
I've done nothing to this saw but run it
A lot
It's still on it's original seals and bearings as far as I know.

No worries, those seals are all still available. You'll probably have it up and running by the weekend. :)

It's back in the truck seals are still holding runs great
This guy in the steel toed crocs was the end of my rubber av mounts IMG_20220808_190331471.jpg
He got pinched everytime he tried to cut
And pulled trying to rip it free
His ms310 wasn't having any of the larger stuff.
He did step in several fresh cow pies in those Crocs
That was entertaining.

That man needs to be dropped from the borrow list.
He's got his own 2 series now a 257
Does anyone still sell the fine plastic mesh 266/288 filter's?
I just find the cheap fiber one's.

I purchased one a while back for several I’m building. They look really good for the price.
I've used the am 55 mufflers for a 266 I just port matched it
I don't know if all of them are as nice but it was extremely well made one of the best made mufflers i've seen on any saw.
I don't know why they make such crappy 268/272 mufflers i've had the bolt tubes break loose in very low hour saws.

Anybody have a source for a bulk quantity or a standard american equivalent of the 266/268/272 and johnny equivalent oil pump gear washer?

Just a complete guess, but one from a 395 looks similar. I have only been in a couple 670’s so I don’t remember how big that washer is and don’t have any spares

How many do you need/want? I have some I believe, I can check.
I'm rebuilding 8 saws from cases up I don't want to take your stash
If you would
Could you measure one?
I'll try to find some online they are 7.00+ for each one.

None of the am replacement oil pumps come with this washer
Just like none of my clone 372s had the o ring on the clutch side.
I'd just like to find a source for everyone.

Yeah if I remember right the 272 uses a larger thinner washer than what’s on the 395

You could measure the I.D. and O.D. of the worm gear and that will give you the approximate dimensions of the washer you are looking for. Then just find the thinnest washer available that fits. The O.D. can be smaller but not bigger than the worm gear.

I did a parts search and according to Husqvarna that washer is 13.1mm I.D. and 20mm O.D.
Best to confirm with your worm gear just to be sure.

@Spike60 I found a couple of 266s in my shop
This one appears to be all original
From Sweden with the metal tank
I thought you were the one talking about them

There's another 266 and 2 272s and 2 268s in that tub I'm going to build
Recoils are getting scarce for the 266s16778085290086818626248134440768.jpg

The newer large decal starters should be fine on the old twin coil saws. The difference is mainly the length of the metal shank on the pulley. Starter pulleys for these saws is a menagerie all it's own. Early ones could be either 10 or 14 mm post ID.
