While were at it what is the 630 non impulse carb number 256A? Wanting to retain the fast idle on a 272 jug swap and not drilling an impulse hole in the jug.

All the time. Jonsered 636 over the weekend. (630 with 266XP top end). Broken down by chassis vs individual model, I run these saws more than any other. Part of it is there are so many models, and I've got plenty of them. But I just plain like them and they almost always seem like the right saw to grab. :)

I bought the 266SE as more of a collector piece, but the 268 was bought to be a lighter option than the 372/395. The JRed 630 will probably be a go to as well once I get a closed port 50 or 52mm jug for it.

The jonsereds boys always claim their versions are more powerful
I never could tell a difference
I just have a lifetime supply of 2 series.

I let this guy in the steel toed Crocs run a 266 of mine he wanted to buy itIMG_20220808_190338011.jpg
He kept getting pinched and finished off my rubber mounts
I'm going to try johnmms 288 spring mount cut down trick on it.
The rubber avs really don't bother me I'm immune to them after 30 years of running them.
I got this guy a 257 it suits him better
It was entertaining watching him step in several fresh cowpies in his Crocs.

I think the impulse in the gasket surface on mine is a hs225. I have many others on 625s with 630 or 670 top ends. I never thought a 272 was any stronger then a 670. It always seemed like the johnnys were more zippy and free then the husky equivelents. I always liked the fast idle setup too. For me a johnny in this series with a husky 356 (350 with 346 topend). Are my go to saws. Also it seems like the 2 piece ignitions have a better timing curve or a stronger spark. Because they seem to run just a little better. I have a saw that i have rigged up to run either coil setup.

The 272xp won't shine until a certain size wood is reached, somewhere around filling a 24" bar and then it will take over from its smaller counterparts as its similar but slightly stronger power curve is finally utilized. This played out time and time again running along 266's and 268xp's for me.
Upon examination of them side by side the Jonsered cylinders look ported compared to a similar sized Husqvarna cylinder, such as a 266, 268xp and 670.
The 670 became "The Champ" in competition for this reason I believe.

Here's the only thing I do to all my saws is add the new am style Husqvarna handlesIMG_20220813_191521016_HDR.jpg
I can't stand the pregnant t style of the old huskys they hurt my arthritic hands for some reason
New style doesn't.

The 670 is still my go to saw, as it has been since I got my first one in the late 90's. Several have come and gone but I still have a good supply. I also have a pile of 272's that I need to go through and put some together (there's probably 5 or 6 complete saws plus carcasses). And then there's Frank, a 266 that I saved from the dump. I rebuilt it and run a .325 9 pin with a Stihl 18" bar with an adapter. It's an odd set-up, but Frank is an odd saw.
