Those button rifled Savage barrels have always been good shooters.
I hope so I've always been a .22mag person myself but decided to give a .17 a try.

I've beaded a lot of rifles but never a 17. Is the barrel free floate? Not being familiar with this particular rifle, beading my not agree with it. I don't think you're going to get much barrel whip out of it being a stainless steel bull. I would polish the bore before anything. We always bought one box of each manufacturers ammo to see which one the rifle responded to the best.

Color shot of the doe that survived my open day mistake shot.

Started calling her lucky as we should be able to tell her for awhile.

Surprise too in 2nd pic.

Yes it is a free float barrel.

If the barrel is floated I wouldn't waste my time or money doing it. It's just a rim fire. Find a few different shells and see what it likes and go from there.

If your serious about bedding the action go to YouTube...plenty of videos on "how to"

Finished up the 308 Ruger American tonight. I hope to bore-sight and shoot in the morning.
Scope is a VX-R 3-9x50 w/firedot 4 reticle sitting on Warne 30mm QRW rings.
