I would replace all of them. The tire shop tells me 6 years is about tops for dependability of tires, regardless of the tread,,,,,especially for trailer tires that carry a load. But I swear my dad has 20 year old tires on his trailers. No way he will ever buy a new trailer tire. He just finds another out of the scrap pile at the tire shop if he has a blow out.

What is on that trailer?

I rememberreading once that trailer tire aren't held to the same standards as truck /car tires. I have an uncle that ended up putting some E rated highway truck tires on his bobcat trailer and swears it pulls better than ever.

My tire run down.
Used to sell them and mount them. Almost 20 years.
Biggest killer of tires is heat. Biggest reason for heat is overloading.
With that being said, overloading goes two ways.
Too much weight or under inflated. (Same thing) Side wall flexing builds the most heat. Multiple sidewall plies builds heat. Single ply sidewalls build the least heat. A lot of 18 wheeler tires are single ply sidewall construction. Granted, they use steel sidewalls, but still single ply.

Interesting on what contributes to heat.

I would add, that front end out of alignment and tires not balanced will reduce the life of the tire, sometimes drastically.

Troof right there on the heat. Same uncle worked for a stone cutting place and if the temps went over 85 they didn't run trucks that day.

It is. I took off teh flywheel and it says "Stihl." Therefore it is of superior lineage. I'll keep my eye out for another one, Kenneth! :campeon:

Yes. Toe set is the biggest killer followed closely by out if balance and worn out shocks. 1 ounce out of balance is equivalent to 50+ pounds slapping the road at highway speed. What a lot of people don't understand is that at highway speed one part of the tire is always stopped. The contact patch with the ground.

Just ordered 5 new tires. Just replaced all 4 boat trailer tires two weeks ago. The RV tires lasted 9 years before they blew out last fall. Then the enclose trailer need 3 more new tires. Dam cheap tires.

You asked whats on the trailer. Firewood processor. Hahn 160 modified. 32 inch bar. Runs 404 94dl 080 guage. Includes 4 way and 8 way wedge. Plus bucking plate to cut then dump larger diameter wood. Wood that will not fit into splitter.

It's huge.

Left at 5 this morning to get it in Minnesota.

Glad you made it back safe! That is a nice looking machine there. Where do you have to do emission testing at? I'm glad we don't have them here. A lot of farmers would be in trouble if that was here.
