More trailer tire problems today. Didn't blow but tread almost ripped fender off. Still held on by front bolt.

What the hell is up with tires lately??
We've had 4 "Episodes" in the last 2 months??!!
And all on good tires. Well inflated.

*s-word's making me a little gun shy about road trips..

Crappy tires nowadays
We've had 3 with broken belts in the past year. All had 1/2tread.
2 coopers 1 toyo.

I have had very good luck with Coopers....knock on wood.

The Cooper dealer here gives free tire rotations if you buy a set of tires from him.

I've always liked the Hancooks, got em on all 3 trucks, but had one violently explode on Lisa's truck a while back.
And I'm a habitual tire checker. It was hard as a rock when we left for KC. Cause I checked.

I'm thinking, if the set has been good on your truck, be very hesitant to replace them.

I swear it's a pig in a poke buying a new set.

Second trailer tire this year. 50 psi this morning. 2009 tire. This time I had jack spare and cordless impact with me. But no wrench to take off fender. 70 miles down I35 like this.

Like I said, I have had good luck. I have a set of 4 Coopers on my Buick, almost time to replace, never a problem. I have a set of 4 Coopers on my minivan, will probably replace within 5-10K. No blowouts on anything.

However, there is a wonky Cooper tire on my mini-van. Out of the blue, the van started pulling to the left, so I accused the wife of hitting a curb or a pothole---that didn't go over well. I took the van in to get the front end aligned. The tech calls me and says your front end alignment is fine, you have a tire causing it to pull. So he put the front tires on the back,,,,problem solved, until I rotated the tires again. The tech says this is not uncommon, tells me about 1 in 4 alignment/pulling issues are due to wonky tires.

I would replace all of them. The tire shop tells me 6 years is about tops for dependability of tires, regardless of the tread,,,,,especially for trailer tires that carry a load. But I swear my dad has 20 year old tires on his trailers. No way he will ever buy a new trailer tire. He just finds another out of the scrap pile at the tire shop if he has a blow out.

What is on that trailer?
