Usually have hickory shag bark, that was soaking for more than 24 hrs, to put on half way thru the grilling for that flavor
If they are good and dry and no bark, either can be used. I just prefer white oak because the smoke smells pleasant.

That’s my preferred cooking/smoking wood but I am not the connoisseur or gourmand that most of these fellas are.I got some cherry here if you want to try it.

I’ve used it several times in the past..Wild cherry no bark. 2hrs then wrap finish too 200 pork shoulder.

I appreciate the offer but I have plenty Carl, maybe @Jetmd or @WKEND LUMBERJAK want it. I will be blowing thru there Thursday morning on my way to the airport to pickup my daughter. I could drop it off at @Jetmd ’s or @WKEND LUMBERJAK ’s homesteads on my way back if they want it.I’d deliver a slab to Loves truck stop.
