I am on the hunt for a husky 550 or 545XP with a decomp button.
Newer the better. But needs a decomp, and the new ones don't have one.

I'd just sell him my 346, but can't bring myself to part with it.

Good morning y'all

Question, my log splitter fuel tank has corrosion. I really can't get to it with a wire brush. Any recommendations on a chemical that might break it up?

I think I remember guys removing rust from chains with a mix of 50% transmission fluid and 50% acetone. Maybe Carl can help.

No Carl can’t.

Long story but: My ‘53 Ford 1/2 ton had a very rusty tank after sitting in a corn field for years.

Radiator shop boiled it out but that left a ton of rust powder.

I ended up using an extra large sediment bowel w/filter in line. Plus shut off valve so I could clean it ever so often. Spare Filters in the glove box.

Very frequently. Like coast to the side of the road because the engine died. [emoji90]

Took over a year before it cleared up.

Do the new ones come threaded for one? Or is it a drill and tap situation?

I’ve got a brand new oe 550 cylinder here that has the plug hole in it if you need it. I was saving it for a project but ain’t gonna get to it for a bit.

No boss in the cylinder for one. You'll be knocking a flat, then drilling and tapping.

You could do it race saw style with a vertical one.
If it comes to that, I will holler...

It’s for my uncle. He’s 78 this year.. still cuts a lot, but the new markII’s don’t come with a decomp.

I told him the original 550’s had one.. now I gotta find one.. or something..

@BrettL I have used Kreem Products in the past with excellent results.
They have a prep and liner kit.
I think the last time I used it was 30 or so years ago, man am I getting old!
But not as old as Carl….

Was that product white or cream colored one coated inside and done? If so I used that product as well many years ago with great results.

Never seen that b4. Looks promising. Have you used it? I could use that on a cat pony gas tank I’ve got that needs patched.

Second the Red Kote. Used it on a tank for 1210 Case tractor years ago that had cracks and still holding strong. Got some on a jacket when doing it and the jacket wore out before the stain did.

You might want to find a carb model. From mine and others experiences the autotunes don't like to hot start with the decomp button pushed in.
