Saving this hedge log for Thomas.
Bout 22-23” diameter and 12 foot long.
See that bark? Those are special. When you see that weave, the inside grain do the same thing.
Thought about milling it, but I’d rather watch Thomas split it..
The last 2 weeks, I’ve been burning 2 year old Pecan.. it burns hot..
guess it needs extra dry time, cuz even 6 month old pecan don’t burn for *s-word.
The 2 year mark is where it actually becomes useful. Till then, YUK.
I can’t even find a hickory tree around here.According to the FHC drying chart, 2 years is recommended drying time on Pecan.
I have never been around the stuff.
Every year I have a couple people ask for pecan & mesquite for cooking wood but there just isn’t any around here. They will have to be content with cherry, hickory & mulberry.
Thank you,Anyone interested in in mesquite flavor, just use dead, backless, hedge limbs in the smoker.
Or little coins from a 2-3” limb. Must be bark free, dead and dry.
