I did a rough Doug calculation on the pile.
Should end up around 16-18 cord once stacked.

And ole scrap iron finished the day, broken as *s-word..
gonna have to do some cutting and welding here shortly.. and Thomas’s splitters are still in tact for the most part.. we’ll call it a win.
Matt is this still the same splitter from Scott’s that was a train wreck after his gtg?

Lurch was massaging his forearms when he stopped cutting I noticed. And as the day progressed the splits got bigger it seemed. I think Paul was getting tired as well. I know I was beginning to slow down. Got a good rhythm going with the boy after a while. Put a block of wood against the back of the splitter so we could push through all that stringy junk. I wish I had done it earlier, live and learn.
I use a block of wood when splitting elm.

We damn near ran out of gas.
Just an FYI, that Duke’s chain you gave me?
562 is currently on tank # 10 from today.
We didn’t hit anything bad with it. Adjusted for stretch bout every other tank. Still cutting..
Thomas had to re fill my gas can on the way out.
Lurch had to mix up another batch.
So far that chain is holding up well for me.

Yup..
Same one..
After Scott’s cut, I put about 5 more lbs of welding rod into it and hadn’t broke again till yesterday.
Pecan wants to fight a bit.

Probably should have worn some ear plugs..

I got a couple cicada’s in my ears still..
I was off to the side and glad when things finally went quiet. Didn't help that I was running a generator from the start and then went straight to the splitter. Had ear muffs in the truck even. Going to do a bit of cutting and splitting here after the cows get fed. Looks like I need to get Levi some boat time in before too long. He was wanting a spoonbill to smoke. Probably can make that happen.

How is the sickness today? Main thing going around in this area is sneezing a couple days before the coughing starts.

Still not right....

Mild fever, intermittent sore throat, gooped up sinuses, a bit of sneezing, brain fog, coughing, and generally buggers* everywhere.

Oh yeah..... and more recently, some unpleasant stuff going on in the "south end" of things.

*boogers.

I hope I'm not heading down that road ! Went to hospital to have chemo disconnected, came home and spent most all the time since in bed, I'll. Wish I didn't need to go to the hospital for this stuff; they keep sick people in them places ya kno?
Like my buddy said " you can come out sicker than ya went in"

Sounds a lot like what others are describing, myself included starting this morning. I don't know if wild temperature swings make any difference or not, but they can't help it out. Found some antibiotics in the cabinet so I will give it a go. Not calling into work this time of year. I tell people that I will work when I am sick and the weather is nasty. When I feel good and the weather is nice are the days you need to worry about not seeing me.
