I've got hundreds of rusty blades too.....in the future I intend to blast em with diesel and spin em for a few seconds before I take em off the mill.
Wire wheeling rust off blades doesn't sound like what I want to do with my spare time.
Oh hell..

Just grind em rusty.

We're going on a couple months, or more. We were doing good, for quite awhile, but when it stopped, it stopped.
Good morning everyone. 39 to 41 today with some drizzling going on. Not sure how much as I can't see the rain gauge in the dark, buts it's been enuf that there are small puddles in a couple of hard surface areas. So just maybe enuf to settle the dust! Glad I had the time to clean the gutters yesterday, now that the leaves are down.

Morning fellas.

We got enough to make a mess of everything. It was misty all day, but didn't accumulate to anything. Chance of 1-3 inches of snow, Friday and Saturday.

Ok...
Then I won’t send these to the scrap yard.

I’ll just keep adding to the tote.

Some of em be pretty rusty, but I may move said tote to under roof knowing what I do now.

I have a trash can full of used blades.

Woodmizer stopped their resharp program right about when I was going to send some in.

I didn't realize they had quit the sharpening program, that seems dumb....

Anyways.... I made some successful cuts.

Getting a bit of scratching, but I didn't reset the teeth, it cut perfectly straight with zero wandering, and I was able to really push it through the cut.

Table slabs & mantle as per customers request.IMG_20231121_100851.jpgIMG_20231121_100902.jpgIMG_20231121_101647.jpgIMG_20231121_101651.jpgIMG_20231121_101702.jpg

There's a lot going on in those slabs..
Hopefully they know how to mitigate the wharping and cracking..
Some of the coolest pieces are the most frustrating and cantankerous..

He's a general contractor.....in my experience they believe they know everything about everything...lol

However, if you've got any suggestions I'm all ears as I have very little slab experience...

Kitchen counters installed today.
Plumber is scheduled to be at the house Monday to finish installing all the fixtures. Contractor told me if I can have the gas range at the house the plumber can install it too.
Everything is coming down to the wire now.
Thank the Lord.
It’ll take a few weeks to get most everything moved back in. Wife and I just want to get home.

been wanting to get my awol 562 back together here lately. it has a severely scored cylinder from transfer cover leak. definitive dave sent it to millennium to replate and they wont do blind cylinders anymore. thinkn about doing a 2 piece head so that it can be repaired. i asked in another thread if anyone had done that on one. whats the general consensus? i have another new cylinder but figured it might be easier to repair this cylinder than duplicate the port work of the original.

From my experience..

Seal up the ends and get em in a dark corner of a barn somewhere.. level of course.

If it’s a slab from the center of a log, make it thicker, because it’s GONNA behave badly, and you’ll have to put it back on the mill to true it back up.. “that’s awkward as hell by the way”.

Lastly, this “kiln drying” stuff is rediculous....
If you seal up every square inch of a slab, it don’t care if it’s 8%, or 18%..
