Do you just dry lay the blocks with that kind of smoker for temporary duty?

Yup dry stack is fine. If you live close to a decent size town you can usually rent the big rotisserie style smokers too.

Most interesting method that I've seen is a guy at Bennett Springs that would tumble a huge red and creme maribou feather streamer behind the anglers that had waded out into the water after people started cleaning trout in the stream. The big trout would think that it was a wad of intrals and head for it like a shark on attack. I vouched for three lunkers for the guy in less than an hour.

When wading in Tanycomo, look down by your feet. You get a pack of smallish trout sniping the gravel dwellers you stir up.

I try to stand upstream of my son in law and drift 'scuds' (tiny fly, #22) past his feet. Or, the previously mentioned tiny Rapalla minnow.

Zebco 202 rod and reel. $14.
Watching my granddaughters fish is priceless.
Geez the price of lures. But I don't imagine trout would go after dough bait, would they?

If you fish Tanycomo (below the trophy trout area) a nightcrawler works great. Especially after dark when the browns come out.

Yep, I've caught some monster browns on night crawlers. I don't fly fish!
