Wood stove fires one week, 80's the next. We're supposed to get to 86 today. Fall weather in western Kansas. At least it takes a majority of the day to get that warm and doesn't stay there long. Back to 50's and 60's next week.

I hope everyone has a good Friday!

Years ago my Uncle would let me cut my firewood off his place. I cut down a good sized one and he came driving up, got out and said that’s a black gum. It’ll be hard to split. I was young, strong and stupid then. I said that’s ok, I’ll get it split. (I was splitting by hand then). Got the stuff home and hammered 2 steel wedges ALL the way flush. Never even phased that piece. Those wedges were stuck in that chunk until it dried out. Even then it took a saw and axe to get my wedges out. Nowadays I’m old, weak and still stupid but I have a hydraulic splitter now.
:)
Matt had an elm at one of his GTGs. His hydro would not split it. Dougs Super Split SE would not split it. The pieces we were trying to split were not that big, 8-10 inches diameter. It was like trying to split steel cable. The pieces we tried splitting looked like a smashed ball of steel cable when we were done; and it took a lot of effort to get there. Had to noodle the whole darned tree. Never seen anything like it since.

That is hilarious. What is next on the list? Just wait until you run a well ported saw, then you will really lose your mind

Fellow from up near Iowa brought by a MS193 and an 028 (ugh!) to get going.

193 has ( you guessed it) carb issues.

Give them both ‘The Dip’ first,

It will get a new purge bulb to.

I also have to find and get with someone about porting a saw

I know there's a bunch of reputable porters on this forum and I'm probably the last guy who should give advice on saw porters, since I've only ran 1 ported saw, but Huskihl damn near turned me into a Husky man with the 394 he built and ported for me.

That thing is frickin wild.

I've got a 661c that Matt preciated the sound while cutting at a gtg for making a hedgerow into firewood. Wasn't broke in too long at that time. Even sweeter now lol
