Windy here in the Blacksnake Hills!

We need to find a 017 type crank assembly and a serviceable piston.

Put the “box-of-Chetsalvage” thing back together.

Crank counterweights have trimmed the piston skirt some.

Question..
Any ideas how that happened?

Howdy fellas! Today I started on a large pine tree that was struck by lightning. The thing is about 50' tall and about 30" in diameter. It's nice and straight, so I'm going to mill it down and see what I can make out of it.

It's the first time I've seen a tree struck by lightning, up close. It's pretty crazy what it does to the bark.

I also found it interesting that the tree was struck, when there's power lines 15 foot on one side and 20 foot in the other direction. I would've thought it would've hit those first, but it didn't.

Had a fella offer up a ride in a basket on his telehandler, to allow me to chunk it out, so that will take the risk out of the situation. It was going to be a bit of a tight fit felling it.

I'm fixin to be all sorts of fancy and uptown on this tree removal! Lol

If that lightening strike went deep you may lose some lumber. You might want to saw parallel with strike if possible when milling it.

I re-evaluated my arithmetic after finishing up the last row of Ash today, I must of fat fingered my calculations yesterday. There are 3.5cord in that area & I have two more spaces setup that should hold 2.5 cord each. I got a little jag of Honey Locust split up also.

I got the ATV across the ice and on our property Friday. It was this or haul it across on our double canoe rig in the open water season. The lake was perfectly smooth and no drifts on it. We almost stayed out there and made a few trips up the lake and back.

All went great until I got stuck in waist deep snow at the shore. A little shoveling and I got it into the woods until things thaw out in May.
