SIL totaled his pickup. It was a nice 1/2 ton Chevy I drove it to Chelsea and Fort Scott.

He has his sights set on a 3/4 ton Dodge w/hemi. Leftover 2019 model.

Good/bad ???

I think it’s too big actually. [emoji848]

$40k. I’m going to co-sign on it. Finance about 20k.

The 19 are absolutely amazing. Got several friends that have them. Haven’t had any trouble with them. Got lots of options it was a complete redesign in 19.

Was just reading up on the 2019. It has something I don't like. Every time you pull to a stop it shuts the engine off. Restarts when you let off the brake. I know almost everything now has that feature, but I still don't like it.
Maybe Sawnami can shed some real world experience with it.

There is a button on the dash to turn that off.

I'd hope to God a 2019 truck hasn't had any problems lol.

Other than the sensation of it stopping and stopping, it's a pretty reliable setup. We haven't seen an issue with the system on cars or trucks. The 2019 and up Silverado's have a defeat switch that shuts it down for that drive cycle. It re-engages on the next startup though.
The bigger beef is the Active Fuel Management and the Dynamic Fuel Management to people that put custom exhaust systems on their Silverado. A truck running on as few as two cylinders going down the road sounds pretty annoying through an open exhaust system.

I’d think the stopping and starting thing would cost you a new starter motor every 40k miles. [emoji848]
That's my concern, too. Do the starters last as long?
They've got some very beefy starters. A normal starter looks pretty wimpy beside them.

I’m not an engineer but I’m sure they figured the fuel you save will offset the cost of the new starters or there is some super whizbang gizmo that doesn’t require the use of the starter at each stop/restart. If the super whizbang gizmo does exist it will probably only cost you a kidney to purchase & have installed when it fails, because they will have to disassemble half of the vehicle to replace something the size of a cell phone ( see my reference to engineer at the start) Kudos to those that do the dissecting & installation of this super whizbang gizmo because my total lack of patience & the BFH that are my tool of choice aren’t really the proper tool for the job.

I think a super size rewind starter spring that winds up when you step on the brake to stop would be do-able. [emoji6]

Release the brake and that pup kicks in.

Incredapul for trucks. [emoji23]
