Milwaukee is where its at these days. Ive watch a lot of test and review videos and I wouldn't buy any Dewalt as Ive seen some of their stuff start smoking in tests.

Funny thing is TTI who owns the Milwaukee cordless tool line snapped up the dude who made Dewalt big 20 some years ago.

I currently own some Makita stuff since they had a sweet sale going on the day I went to purchase a new drill/impact combo kit.

That’s were I was in Milwaukee. I’ve got them all the way up to 12ah. They’ve even got a cordless chainsaw I’ve been eying for small trim in the deer woods for stands. Every toll I bought last year I ordered with batteries to upgrade mine from 08. Still had the same drills and impacts since then. They are still going strong. Had 14 tools and 11 batteries back then. Way more than that now. They’ve def held up.

I started with Milwaukee, simply because that's what my local lumber yard sells, and I prefer to support local business's, over online, large corporations.

Am I reading that right, you have batteries that lasted 10 or 11 years, or just the tools you upgraded?

Just watch using a big 60v flex battery in 20v stuff.

There all great tools just some stuff gets over hyped.

Yes that is correct. On average they all lasted close to 8-10. Some have been crushed some have fell off semi Trl’s and went back to get them and they still work. I simply cannot say anything bad about them. Several have had baths in water and transmission fluid. The one that got crushed by a Trl is still functional but I couldn’t keep the battery cases glued together anymore. Still lasted a year or better after getting crushed.

My personal preference is Porter Cable.
I've got a lot of Dewalt, though.
And I've got several Porter Cable/Dewalt matchups. I've got drills of each, drivers of each, sawsalls of each, battery trim saws and corded sawsalls.
My personal opinion is while Dewalt is good stuff, Porter Cable is better.
Porter Cable doesn't have as much variety as Milwaukee,(and Milwaulkee is very good stuff). Dewalt is owned by Black and Decker. Dewalt is the Caddillac of the division.
But I compare the tools to chainsaws.
Dewalt is equal to Stihl. They run good and sell good.
Milwaukee is Husqvarna.
Porter Cable is Dolmar.
With the above being said though, everyone is entitled to their own preferences.
:)

8-10 years is pretty awesome! I get about 5 years of hard use, meaning high heat cycles, and constant run times. Even at 5 years, I'm not complaining. I get more than my money's worth. They are pretty well toast after that.

That’s about what I get out of some of my impacts. But I generally have enough batteries to rotate them. So my batteries last longer than my tools.

Porter Cable is owned by Stanley as well apparently. They are turning into Apex Tools! Lol They have made some big acquisitions the past 3 or 4 years. I didn't realize they owned that many companies.

As long as tools work and last, that's all that matters to me, no matter the brand. I landed on Milwaukee, simply because that's what my local lumber yard sells, and I like to support him.

Good to see that's what others get out of their impacts too. I only rotate through 4 batteries. They advance in size so quick, by the time I wear out 4, the new ones are triple in size! Lol

Thanks for sharing your experience with them!

Wouldn't Makita be more like Dolmar? Lol.

Hopefully you saved it. You can rebuild one of the others that dies of old age/cycles. Just take the batteries out of the case and put them in the “new” case
