Morning everybody. Not a happy camper this morning. My mom has dementia, and I take her to Drs etc. I'd called 2 weeks ago and got her an appointment for this morning. Got her loaded up, go to the Drs office, go to check in, NO appointment recorded. Doctors not even there today. The bi__ I talked with hadn't even put it in the computer. Couldn't go off on them with mom there, but they could tell I was pissed! Got her another one for Monday. Her doctor will hear what I have to say about her staff!
With my memory malfunction, I have insisted for several years that the computer reminder call be made! If
I think there is an appointment without the call I call and found that the Tuesday appointment is in October not this month.:eusa_doh: Even puters get it wrong specially with Gov't emploees inputting the info

So, just got done testing the transfer switch and loading the generator.
By the meters on the switch the load was about 2-2500 watts.
Powering all of our bedroom. Son's room, bathroom, living room, and lights in the den. Also includes 2 refrigerators and the freezer and furnace .Bedrooms, bathroom and living room include wall outlets which covers the blower on the wood stove.
Troybilt 6250 running watts, 8000 starting watts. About 6 hours to install.
I could have done other ways to hook up the generator (Redneck) but this way is fool proof and won't kill the utility lineman down the street .
:)

Got to work on this this afternoon for a friend of mine. This is the original paint. It was a service truck from Kansas. Anybody recognize the name on the doors?

My first job was working for a Fina station a mile from where I grew up.
Was an awesome after school job. Made $1.77 an hour. Good times for a teenager and a motorcycle.

I know a lineman that was quite perturbed about two houses lit on the end of a dead line! One house had generator that was powering both thr the power company conect. Lineman got bulging vein mad. Pointed out that all that needed done was to pull the main fuses from both breaker boxes and run a couple extensions from house to house. Lineman got a strange look that showed he missed the obvious that wood have had all safe & happy

Are you running the entire house off the generator or just part of the house. Do you have enough generator for everything or just the must have stuff.
With this particular switch I can run 6 "circuits". So, I can run 6 different breakers in my breaker box out of 18, I think. They make bigger switches that can handle more circuits but I'd probably have to go with around a 10000 watt gen.
I got this at Lowe's but I've seen Lowe's online that you can order bigger.
This pretty much runs what I considered the basic needs. If I was going to run the whole house I'd probably step up to a pad mount Generac with an auto transfer switch and natural gas powered .

My BIL has a pad mount unit but his he has to go start it and throw the switch .
With all this being said, these systems need to be excersized at least every couple of months . BIL never did that and paid for it. When he needed it, guess what? No start, no run and wound up doing some major repairs because of mice .

Morning midlanders!

Up at three am and discovered a flat on the old Dodge. [emoji90]

Tiny break in the sidewall turned into a replacement.

In and out of Walmart in thirty minutes. [emoji106]

o.one nice thing about this switch is that when I exersize the system, I don't have to kill any power to the house.
I plug in to the house and the generator, start the generator, go inside and start flipping switches from utilitypower to generator power . When I'm done testing I simply put the switches back to utility and turn the gen off.
Keep in mind, always have the generator hooked up and running before tranfering power, either direction. If you transfer and then start or shut off the gen, it's going to screw up a lot of stuff .
