I might have a muffler for that

That would be cool. One of the first muffs I modded was one of these and it looks horrible. Found a better way now or I should say a better looking way.

Green one in the box was a Woodshark. Muffler and misc saved.

Red one is a Predator. End broken off the crank. Saved P/C and misc.

Green one w/bar is P38-16. We will try to puzzle him back together. 140 psi & spark he has. Not finding the correct carb and linkage in the [emoji90] pile.

Every poulan I have tried to put into service has eventually broke the end off the crank.
Why is that? Sprocket wear? Bearing? Fatigue? Chain over tightened?

D. All of the above?

The Predator looks the have been run less than an hour.

I put them up on C’list and never ask more than $75.

I won’t do more than fuel system overhaul or they go in the trash.

If someone is looking for a cheap saw, I usually direct them toward a 170 or 180 Stihl.
They are cheap, but I've personally put over 100 hours on a 180. It was still kicking when I sold it for 100 bucks.

I have never had an issue with Teflon tape, as long as the fitting was tightened enough. You just don't want to ever use it for hydraulic fittings. That is when I use a teflon, or PTFE paste. With underground gas lines, Rectorseal (the black kind).
The main thing with a tapered thread: it has to be tight!
I do have some purple locking thread sealant that is specifically made for locking pneumatic fittings that will be in high vibration environments. I've only used it a couple of times.
I've been having trouble getting 1" black pipe to seal up. I used teh Harvey brand yellow paste from Menard's, and it seems like plumbers putty with a bit of oil in it, not so good. Been going back and redoing some of them with the white RectumSeal with PTFE, but some joints have been so stubborn I'm considering epoxy because of the frustration. When you have to undo a bunch of downstream ones to get one redone it sucks. I have a pressure tester attached that I pump up with 40 psi of air to test the system. Unfortunately the desire to have a recessed 1" manifold running the length of my basement, with options to run 1" out to the shop and upstairs to a future second story have made this far more hassle than it should be. I got some longer wrenches, I suppose it's on to attempt # 4.

The #1 issue that I have seen with pipe threads not sealing, is that they are not tight enough.
You will not be able to overtighten 1" with 24" pipe wrenches. Tighten them as tight as you can get them to go.
Also, you will have real issues if you are using couplers that were designed for electrical conduit. Conduit couplers are designed to let the ends of the pipe tighten till they touch each other.
The other issue, is when you are using Chinese pipe, and the threads try to rip out while threading, which leads to leaks...

Efforts to score a Poulan P3816 carcass at Jeff’s Small Engines failed. [emoji20]

One will turn up sooner or later.

We started using high-temp, high-pressure refrigerated driers, and then regulate down at the equipment.
Seems to work well.

We have some home made looking compressor that's maybe a 30hp unit. We use to have a 60 something Gardener Denver but the last few presses we got have there own air supply.

On my Rapid-air system it says in instructions (yes I read them) to put Teflon tape and pipe dope on fittings.
The guy that installed my owb does that also.

FYI
