Good morning!
We were concerned last night because Emerson fell asleep on the way home from dinner, before 7 PM. normally he only sleeps 8-9 hours, if that, so I said I'd get up with him so Nancy could sleep. But the Primate slept straight through, except for a bathroom break. Wish we could get him to go to sleep by 8 each night, but normally it's a big negotiating snafu to get him in bed before ten. Nancy says the norm for his age is 12-14 hours a night, so yesterday was the first time in memory that he got the normal amount.

I'm going to go out and look for a GM product with that infamous 3.8 liter engine, so I can pull out what little hair I have left...

Starting to actually consider a blue oval product after Kyle's post. Yeesh.

Have a good day!
don't go to the ddark side!
Don't worry about falling asleep early. Normal is 10+ hrs. He may be going through a growth spurt or the lack of 10+ finally caught up to him. Some kids just sleep less than others.

I had a Buick Park Ave. with the bullet proof 3.8. The engine blew at about 165K this summer. No warning at all. Oil changes every 5K, normal maintenance always.
That's low for them to be checking out.

Good luck. That's a bad year to deal with. Hopefully the front stuts don't lock up from not having the weight of the vehicle on them.
Nothing to this repair anymore in our shop.
To remove the engine on a Corvette, the first thing that you do is remove the rear fascia and work your way through the drivetrain to the front.

Steve, when did they stop offering a manual transmission behind the 6.0 HD trucks.
I think a reg cab version with a manual and a bale bed would be an ideal farm truck.
I may be on the lookout for one soon. But gotta have the manual trans..

Diesel drivers. Ever buy any diesel fuel and notice your truck immediately runs better? Better acceleration, more power, etc... It doesn't happen very often, maybe once or twice/yr. What in the quality of the fuel causes this? Reminds me of going from 87 to 93 octane in a gasser.
Probably had a higher cetane level.

Matt, we stopped seeing them around 2006 but I think 2007 was the official end. Pretty hard to find. One of my coworkers found a single wheel 1ton standard cab 4X4 with an 8.1 and manual transmission a few weeks ago.

The manual transmission is almost more important than the motor.
When picking up round or square bales in the summer, we can just put a truck in 4 low and idle along at a snails pace and never stop. It's murderous on an auto trans constantly starting a load in a soft field at 10,000 pounds, over and over. Just ask Levi. Picking up straw last year is what finally killed his IMO.

Carb needs more tinkering.

Wonder how it would work in manual low (M1) which won't allow an upshift? Or does it have that feature?

My 91 Sub creeps along pretty good in low low. Kids love it when driving through a field.

What? The red and white ford bit the bullet?

No. Just the transmission. Put a new one in it last fall.

Would have worked better, but I arrived on the scene too late to advise.

Good afternoon y'all. Wet and windy today. Good day to do some routine maintenance on my cutters and repair work on my fixer uppers.
