was kinda wanting a 6.2 hatoe
Should set up camp straight up Holley's wazoo and wouldn't leave until it either worked or they bought it back and have a definitive direction to work towards.

are the 6.2's failing because of thin oil? or is there more to it?
@redline4 did you get a chance to try the new plugs yet?
I know you have already been over it 1000 times and probably know more than any of us providing ideas but. Fuel pressure could still be a thing worth rechecking one more time? Was that motor originally flex fuel? I think they like 48psi fuel pressure instead of 58I did. It didnt change anything, which I expected.
While I had the plugs out I did a compression test, which was fine.
My next plan is to pull the fuel rail and injectors from my plow truck and put those in. They are the same connector type, so I am lucky to have that available.
I can work on others peoples broken clapped out as stuff for weeks on end and have very little troubles, but the second I work on my own stuff it fights me tooth and nail, I actually dread working on my own crap now, dont get paid a penny for it and got to buy the parts.
Not sure if this story helps or not, but here goes anyways. When I rebuilt the Grizwald's little Jeep engine we replaced the injectors with new aftermarket ones during assembly. After initial fire up it was ran very little and basically stored it then for a few months or so until Spring. At which time it would not fire one iota. So, upon ruling the ignition out as the source of the problem, it was discovered that it had no fuel. I think it was with the help of a noid light(?) it could be seen that three of the fuel injectors were not opening at all and the fourth just barely at all. Replaced the injectors again with all new more gooder ones and the problem was solved and has not happened again as it has gotten stored every winter since.Based off the plugs and header temps cylinders 1, 3, and 5 are not firing. One would never know it based off sound or vibration of the engine.
The Holley ECU uses only 1 oxygen sensor. If it is in the left pipe, it always goes full lean. In the right pipe it reads normally.
The fact that it went full lean all the time and never changed is what led me down the bad ecu rabbit hole.
It's not that because it will act normally on the right bank.
If it was a spark issue, it wouldn't be lean, it would be rich due to unburned fuel.
Thats why I am going to try injectors.
I can turn down fuel pressure. The ecu will simply compensate by lengthening the injector pulse width within it's capability.
Haha, yup, working on my wife's Mitusbishi's valve body, original wasn't working - originally bad stepper motor, replaced stepper motor and ran for a short bit then issue with codes, bought a new/used valve body from eBay - that one didn't work + different codes. Took both valve bodies apart (the stupid refurb valve body from e-bay was dirtier inside than mine), cleaned everything. Found three valves in the original were stuck (over heated). Honed out the holes, put the valves from the eBay one in the original valve body, got it all back together and am now having stepper motor issues and low fluid code. Going to pull it one more time and put the stepper motor from the eBay unit on the original unit and make sure the harness is fully seated. Not really that big of a deal, except having to drain the fluid each time. All this while other projects are piling up like the blown head gasket on my truckThis 100%. My garage, driveway, and barn are the Sargasso Sea of unfinished projects. It would actually be easier and less time consuming to get another part time job and pay full shop rate for somebody else to do it.
Yep. I'll be having hernia surgery soon....and my loader tractor is in a blue million pieces. When it rains it pours...lol
Ouch, hopefully the surgery will get you back moving like you need to....in regards to the tractor....good luck!!Yep. I'll be having hernia surgery soon....and my loader tractor is in a blue million pieces.
Had the 6.2 LS (reason for my name. I know, sounds lame when I say it out loud) in a 2010 half ton with a canned tune. That was a fun pickup but not much use to drag around the 16k toyhauler.LS 6.2 is just fine.
The recall isnt on the first few yeae of the LT 6.2 either and those were fine as well.
None of this would keep me from gettingone if i wanted it. FYI, you'resupposedtorun premium fuel in them.
Poor machined surface on the crank, poor beaeing quality for a specific run of the engine builds and I've also heard casting debris that didn't flush out of the oil galleries.
