I'm going to try and source seals and gaskets. Ring. Blow it apart over winter to freshen it up.

I love old Lawn Boys. I had a C21ZPN orange tank that I mowed with for a long time. I ran it until it had virtually no compression left and traded for it a Honda HRR216. I should've just rebuilt it. Then I got a bug for a 2 cycle mower again last year and bought this Toro 22035 Commerical with a 2 cycle Suzuki and went through it- carb rebuild, crank seals, governor seal, fuel line, etc. I run 40:1 RA in it.

I also sold this one just last year, kinda regretting it. It was a 10227 with the later V-series engine. Super light and it ran great. Not a commercial model, but one of the last good Lawn Boys IMO.

I always wanted a lawn boy since my first dirt bike, 81 Yamaha YZ80. I was enjoying that so much I figured a 2 stroke mower would make mowing great again. I just never put any effort into getting one. Years later I went to buy a new one to find that the 2 strokers were no longer being made. So i just let the idea go then this dropped in my lap and rekindled my interest. I could see me having more of these and those Toro versions.

So. I used the mower the other to cut our shallow ditch and around everything in the yard. It virtually eliminates the need for a string trimmer. Nice!

Here’s a couple of mine. Tan colored one is a 1969 and the other is from 1977. Mowed the back yard with the old one the other night, and realized why you don’t need self propelled on an old Lawnboy. They push easy because they only weigh around 40 pounds. Magnesium decks even.

Glad it's running well!

If you ever really want to get into Lawn Boys, the orange tank commercial F series 4.5 hp models are the best ones Lawn Boy ever made IMO. Lawn Boy was bought out by Toro in their later years and began using Toro 3 speed transmissions. Those Toro 3 speeds are really good transmissions. I like the older F series engines better than the later Duraforce engines, they are smoother and more reliable IMO.

That 77 looks near identical to mine. Both cool machines. Definitely no self propelled needed in our yard.

Do NOT !! use outboard motor oil !!!

Use the same oil as your chainsaws at 32:1.
The dumb thing is the old ones called for outboard oil. I just realized kind of an old thread I just dug up but I do have some lawn boy parts from one of the Stihl dealers I bought stuff from if anyone needs stuff.

Yeah if you have anything that @Egg Shooter doesn't grab, I'd be interested.

It's all yours. I'm kinda over the lawn boy experience. I like it and use it on occasion but it never lit that fire in me I thought it would.

I bought a lot of them and when I discovered the old toro recyclers, I sold all of the lawn boys. The toros were way better and you can get them in a two stroke.

I just finished up this 22260. Rebuilt the carb, put new crank seals in it, painted the deck, fixed a few odds and ends, and added an NOS bagger. I love it. Its so light and maneuverable. Reminds me why I like pushers over SPs.

About all I can say about Lawn Boys is they seem to run forever .I remember as a young boy seeing them and most likely the owners used motor oil as mix oil and likely at 16 to one ratio .They served double duty ,mowed the lawn and fogged for mosquitos at the same time . In those days those mowers were little rascals about 18" cut .
