I got home from my cabin this morning and planned on going out cutting with my son. Unfortunately he wouldn't get out of bed. I was able to noodle down 2 of the blowovers that cut on Friday and carry them out to the trail. I used my Stump Shot 572XP with a 32" bar.

My wife and girls went out this weekend and got some firewood. We were working of off a log deck that was poorly stacked. My wife and girls did a good job laying out logs and making marks while I did the cutting. I used my new favorite saw, Husky 272 that I rebuilt from the bearings up, has great compression and just fed itself through the larger logs with ease, especially with a sharp full-skip Husky chain. I also used my Stihl 046 but unfortunately I have an air leak or oiler issue and mid-cut lost compression. Popping the muffler cap revealed a badly scored piston, I have not looked yet to see the extent of damage to the cylinder. I am bummed about it, but should have known better and done a full teardown like I did with the 272 since they were both dump-find saws. I am looking up parts now on Traverse Creek...

At least we were able to get three truck loads in a Ford Ranger.

Got to splitting some of my round mountain. All mulberry except for some oak used for cribbing ends.
Very nice, I like the trailer too, right now all I have is my two feet and a wheel barrow. I am going to have to look at expanding where I have my wood, I like the plastic pallet idea you have going on there. Do you cover it or just leave it uncovered?

I always top cover with rubber. It's under the trailer on that one pic.

Oak firewood logs from a coworker/friend of mine.
He says he doesn't need it this winter, as such that pile will most likely sit like that till next year.

In the stack on the left is Pignut Hickory and to the right Black Locust!!
I loves locust!!😛🥰

Picked up a truckload of locust last nite from feller up in Huntsville, who just wanted it GONE!

Feeling just a tad stiff today...but not too stove-up!🤕😴20240916_221610.jpg20240916_221636.jpg20240917_145606.jpg20240917_133744.jpg

My current supply of firewood.
All turkey oak, except for what's in the "box" - that is all & everything.

Most seasoned, one season worth.
IMG_20240920_131436.jpg

Still requires some seasoning, I need to get it off the ground, second season worth.
IMG_20240920_131450.jpg

Still needs processing, third season worth.
IMG_20240920_131456.jpg

My "firewood box", mixed wood, a lot of birch & cherry this time around, spare & shop firewood. With the recently added raisers it can now hold a season worth.
IMG_20240920_131505.jpg

And not being able to show it, I am waiting on two more seasons worth of large OD beech & oak firewood logs.
Something got cought up with delivery, not too happy about it having already paid for it a long time ago.

Got about 1.5 cord of poplar split…a little on the lighter side but will mix in nicely with harder stuff!
