That’s always killed a piece of me when farmers/hoe operators tell me they burnt a fence row in the field or chucked 3ft ash trees in a hollow with the hoe.
Glad to hear someone’s actually doing something with it

I agree. It’s a huge waste !! Which is why I spent almost $30k when all is said and done between the stove, concrete pad, piping and heat exchangers to burn free wood lol. We were burning close to $5k in LP a year so it’ll come back pretty quick. Staying off OPE and that other site that have chainsaw classifieds may push that payback out a little farther though lol.

We cleared this line off last winter and I hope to get after a few more like it this winter. Now I will have a problem of not being able to burn it all fast enough !! A few neighbors also have outdoor boilers and have offered to help cut if they can take some wood home. Well yes that sounds like a great idea !! Party cutting is always more fun.

I got a little this morning after getting back from my cabin. They cut some of the corn down so I decided that I was sick of the brush and thorns. I'll be cutting along one of the fields. I used my oldest scarr 550xpg, my XS 550xpg and my XS 400c. The oak wilt is bad in this area of the property.! I blocked everything at 26" for a owb.

Finished splitting today. Measured this pile to 4.75 cord. Mulberry, black locust, cherry and chestnut/white oak.

I peaked the center to shed snow, about 7’ tall.

Big piece of epdm to cover it.

I'm new to this thread, but I thought I'd share a few pics from yesterday. Our woodlot was select cut last winter, so there will be a steady diet of sugar maple tops to work on for the next year or two.

I got a little after work today. I cut this dead oak wilt tree down on Sunday. My son meet me out there and used my newest scarr 550xpg for the tree top. I used my Tree Monkey 400c for the trunk. We cut it in short pieces for my cabin.

Finished splitting and stacking the first load of honey locust. Quite sure this is not even half what the total haul will be.
Darn backyard trees.

Well it’s not actual “firewood” but it will get run though the boiler to make heat so I think it counts !! At the end of every day I clean up the fines from under my grain dryer and bag them up to get burnt this winter.
IMG_2396.jpeg

25 bags so far and we’re past half done with corn so there will likely be 40ish if I had to guess. I’ll burn two a day during the day along with some wood so they’ll be gone in three weeks. They’ll offset around a cord of wood so no complaints there. Should be around a ton here. They’re each around 80lbs.

I got a little this morning. It was a late start due to being on call for work until 10:00. I'd brought my 4 wheeler home from my cabin last Sunday. I planned on just marking dead oak wilt trees. I ran out of 300' marking tape so I decided to cut a couple trees before it got too hot. I used my XS 400c and my scarr 4350. I blocked everything at 26" for a owb.

I got a little this morning. Two more oak wilt trees. Only about 500 more of these to go and then next year they'll be hundreds of new oak wilt trees. Such a shame! I used my newest scarr 550xpg and my oldest scarr 572XP. I blocked everything at 26" for a owb.

First load in the bucket. Have to wait, couple saws to get running for neighbors. That hollow red oak made by butt pucker up! Second log behind those pieces is base log (hollow from one end to the other). Oak wilt and red oaks do not mix, white oak and pines are taking over.
