I've got some tight spots it's difficult to get to .Which is one reason for those 8 foot logs .After I get those things split and stacked that will bring the tally up to around 5 cords which is about what I burn in a season .I'll probably cut a couple more though .
This works out for me,I know people .I can get another skid loader or a bucket truck just by a phone call .

Along with this firewood thing during the Covid lock down I did total rebuilds on two Partner P-100 chainsaws ,99 cc .Those larger logs are the chance to give them some run time so they break in and come up to their potential .It would be kind of stupid to use them to cut up 12 inch stuff plus the pot lickers are too heavy doing that kind of work and I'm not a spring chicken any more .Using large saws on small stuff is about like shooting rats with an elephant gun .

More on this thing .got three of the logs bucked using two old classics.A Stihl 038 mag and the McCulloch version of a P100 Partner .The latter I rebuilt two of during the covid lock down .In the hot August sun under an umbrella on my pateo .I use a micro saw to mark off 16" ,works well other wise I get all kinds of sizes which I do not want .

I had one in my yard about that same exact size. Milled most of it. Almost all ash around me are pretty far gone, majority are falling over.
There aren’t many alive still where I’m at. So many dead and standing, but I suspect they won’t be standing for long.

I got a little for my cabin this morning. I cut down and blocked up 11 trees. Easy morning for me, perfect size trees for carrying out of the woods. All the trees were under 12", I used my XS 4350.

I ended up cutting and blocking up two trees this morning. Yesterday while cutting I saw a dead tree with the top missing. I went out mostly to haul wood out. You can't tell from the pictures but the tree had a very bad lean. I thought it might barber chair, but it didn't. Everything went as planned. I ended up getting fourteen 26" pieces for a owb. I used my newest scarr 572XP.

While driving out of the woods I noticed another tree with no top. I figured that it would be easy! The tree was out in the open. I used my newest scarr 572XP and blocked everything up at 26" for a owb.

I got a load that I had previously cut loaded up and hauled home. I'll bring it up to my cabin next weekend. I cut down and blocked up two dead standing trees after I loaded my truck this morning. I used my XS 550xpg and my XS 572xpg. I blocked everything at 26" for a owb.

I got a little this morning. I don't know what was worse the heat and humidity or the chest high thorns. I planned on cutting more dead standing trees but the heat got the best of me. I used my old scarr 550xpg and my newest scarr 572XP. I blocked everything to 26" for a owb.
