I agree ! I have two them . I like the mkll better than the original 550xp . I owned 3 of the original , I still have one mmws 550xp . I find that I rarely use it . I normally grab one of the ported 550xp mkll .

Most definitely ! Kevin ported my other 550xp mkll it's setup for high speed limbing . I run a 18" 325 fc-fc chain with a 8t sprocket on it . The 550xp mkll I used today has a 18" 3/8 " fc-fc setup .

My Dolmar PS-9010 (mild MM only) performed admirably, chain was good too and I didn't wreck it (all bucked logs were airborne!).
Although, I realize I need to source a spare 115DL just in case as this is the only 115DL I have.

Splitting tomorrow?!

I got the last of the bass wood done ,as the rounds got so heavy it was too much for me I resorted to "beef and noodles ".The beef was me with a wedge sledge and 100 year old axe .The noodle portion furnished by a Stihl 038 AV I reworked years ago and nearly forgot I owned it .Some people don't think too highly of this model but they respond to modifications very well .

Took the Fisker's & my 8lb maul out for a ride yesterday.
My version of country cardio.
Only split for about 35 minutes, but it felt mighty good!

Weight gain, the crud, root canal, taking care of Pops, and other minor crap have made me lazy. Most of what I busted up was some 1 yr old pecan that flew apart like a bomb!
Think I'm gonna burn rounds & bigger chunks this winter than normal.

Btw...who does a decent job of fixing a fireplace damper?
Mine is outta whack & functions only wide open or closed...without my neanderthal rigging!

The cotton wood is on the ground all 100 foot of it .It did shake the ground .I over sized the diameter it was a tad over 5 feet and not the 6 I thought All it took was a little tug from " Ollie " dozer .Poor old Ollie wasn't up to par ,running on 5 out of 6 cylinders but it had enough .

We had an audience .I missed the look on those childrens faces because I was on the dozer but Georgia said it was priceless .These kids may never see this again but I'll bet they remember it the rest of their lives

I should point out if you look between those little girls on the log you will see a patch of blue .That was the target an old blue tee shirt tied to a maple sapling .Not too bad for an old firewood cutter .

Good hard anthracite coal is 320 a ton!
So are these loads now!
I only sell standing dead oak.
Cut and split for each order. 1.25 cord average. We all know how you stack can make a huge difference.

I've got a stash of locust, honey and black, that's been split for 4-5 years and thrown into a ring on pallets. Finally got out and stacked in totes. While stacking I was thinking about when this wood was split. Now I am thinking it was between 2015 and 2016 before I purchased the 25-ton Country Line splitter. Sorting in 3 sizes being chunky monkeys, 12-16" and 18-20". Ended up with 3 stacked totes an almost full thrown in tote and 2 started. The wood that still needs cut and split has been sitting there for every bit of 4 years so hope to get it split up in the next month or so.
Wonder if it's ready to burn yet?

Standing dead oak can be very wet when cut down. They buy it that way, do they burn it wet too?

Some buy for the next year, one guy buys and dries it in his basement with a rice coal stove. He has multiple heat sources.
Alot of chestnut oak , some red and white oak here in the mountains standing dead can be really great firewood in a couple weeks. Just have to crack it open and let some airflow hit it.
