Nice logs
Being cut short like that prolly don’t split too hard

Sent from Hoskey Hills
That is cut to 11-12", for our stove which is the main wood burner in our house.
I can go up to 14", but I keep it conservative in case a cut goes crooked.
Our cast iron fireplace can take 16", but it is a hassle to get firewood that long into the fireplace.

Yes, turkey oak splits fairly nice by its own, even more so when the rounds aren't too long.
No maul, just an ax for me.
Knotty pieces get noodled.

I saw a lot

Last couple of Saturdays to work on a Hackberry that blew down last year next to his house. Didn't have phone with me last weekend but did cut and split to fill two totes and did get a couple of pictures today. Only worked a few hours each as I have trouble getting going in the morning sometimes and the heat.

My neighbors firewood log pile, they tried bucking with their 018 if I understood that correctly.
Yeah, I took my girls for a workout, almost done (not all of it is supposed to get bucked).

Before I got going at it.

After I got going at it. Note, I noodled rounds, but I did not split any - they have a vertical hydraulic splitter (AC 3-phase electric powered) under that tarp.

Also got some playing at home at the end of the day.
This is what chainsaws are about, play time, everything else is just work which I can without!

I might get one video of this play time up on YT, re-grinding my Stihl carbide chain with just a little more hook is a success. :)

Due to the fact I've got more than I need for this winter so I've slowed down some .I've been tackling a big pile of white oak one of the trimmers dropped off 10-12 years ago and shoved it up with a skid loader .Because it's white oak the sap wood might have rotted but the heart wood is solid as a rock .Problem is there are a lot of three foot rounds .I have to drag them out of the pile with a tractor then either steel wedge them or noodle them before I use the splitter .There was a time as a younger man I could horse that stuff around but I can't any more .Still get-er-done just takes longer .

I’m getting older and pulled nerves in my shoulder so after I got my bobcat I built me a bobcat splitter

My neighbor has a big Bob Cat with a splitter and an outside burner .He gets culls and drops from a local hardwood mill cuts them about 2 feet 2.5 and spits them then uses the skid loader to stuff them through the door . With a forced draft blower it will burn anything .

I managed to drag some wind fall lindens from the woods so I can cut and split them easier ,less handling Since I'm ahead of the game I will attempt to get a few old saws running for a saw fest thing in Oct . I'll only take two modified Stihls and many McCullochs most have never seen .So far ,first one a Titan 70 and it runs .Next on deck is a super 44A one of the oldest running saws I own .I hope it's as easy as the other .Maybe half a dozen total Macs. One of the Partner p-100 and one Husky 2100 Possibly the avatar saw a 2100 S Homelite circa 1972 or so .Should be a walk in the park, I've got 5-6 weeks . I'll get a pic or two later

Okay sports fans part of the line up .Left to right Stihl 038 Magnum ,modified .McCulloch Titan 70 ,McCulloch 1000 ( Partner P 100) ,McCulloch 805 with an early model 850 engine .The little one at the end is a modified Stihl MS 200T .I just used it to mark the log ,18" on the little end bass wood .Lousy fire wood but it all burns .DSCN1214[1].JPG
I once thought the Titan 70 was about as powerful as a Stihl 044 which it's not . However if you drop the reins and don't hog it it does pretty good .It's got speed but not as much torque as most McCullochs .Those other saws you can lean and the Partner probably sit on and not stall them .
