The aftermarket 372 parts seem to be more consistent in quality from what I've seen. Food for thought...

The writing has been on the wall for some time now. Which is why I need something here for people to try. I could not talk the last guy into one, wanted the 272 like mine. Besides every 272 I build I want to keep...

Top ends from the "better" sources and plastic seem to be pretty good, but I'm not thrilled with the ignitions & bottom end parts consistency to this point...:) But I haven't tried ALL the AM sources. I would be interested in a source for good ignitions.

I think that one word you used there hits the nail on the head pretty darn close, and tells the whole story - "consistency".

I found an AM company making coils that I really like a lot from Brasil, called MAGNETRON. I can not find any sources for these that aren't hit and miss, like E-bay. I tried looking at their web site but can't understand a word they say.

Needs further tinkering.

I may have spoke to soon, and out of turn. lol

I'm not a fan of the coils either. I only use oem on the saws I build.

Tell me more about the bottom ends.

Farmertec 361 #2 flywheel nut left, Stihl nut right.

I suppose one could use a 1/4" flat washer but I happen to have the flange nut left over.

Go back an change my 361 #1 I will.
crazy part is they also have the flanged nuts, but I had to order three times before they sent me the right thing
I get the feeling most of the time that nobody there has ever run, seen or built a chainsaw :)

for stock saws I find the coils that Farmertec distributes pretty dead nuts reliable
in my notes I have three issues with the coils on literally thousands sold
I have Carl telling me the 365/372 coil didn't work well for him when advanced, but he didn't remember if it was from me or not
I have Eric telling me I was a bag of farts for sending him a poly flywheel (bad magnet) and AM coil for a 660 he was porting for me - replaced both with new OEM
I have the FS87 coils mislabeled as fitting all of the FS90 when there are two different coils for the FS90

One of the chinese vendors offered complete 272 saws for 195.00 they didn't offer the 365 372 i was looking for so a 272 kit is probably out there somewhere.
