I had heard about the screen thing, just never tried it. Might have to next time I want to keep one under the hood.

My original plan was the just run the saw without the cover. After installing the filter set up, I seen it had enough room to fit the cover.

Sticking with the whole against the grain thing this thread is about. The a/f sticking out of the hood adds some character. Might even scare off a few 026/346 ;)

A 14" picco would be a great limbing setup for these saws.

As to the 330 coil, it should be limited around 14-14.5k according to the ipl. I have 1 echo and an aftermarket coil coming to test out. Slight chance the aftermarket is truly a unlimited coil.
What coil is the 330 unlimited? Wonder if it fits the 330T 360t

Yes the 330t/360t coil.

It appears to be a direct bolt on.... same size shape location.. similer timing. If I remember correctly it was a couple degrees less max advance, than the 490 coil.

The manual says to set the 330/60t at 13,500-14,500 no load. So I would imagine the coil is limited around 14-14.5k.

I purchased an aftermarket 330/60t coil in hopes it may be a true unlimited coil. Hopefully they fit. Appears only a longer plug wire may be necessary.

Good if it is unlimited il need to know. My 360t limiter kick in tooooooo early. If it spooled up another 1500 to 2000 rpm I'd be happy with it

Made these for adjustable choke linkage.

These carbs come with a long choke rod. So this will allow me to clamp the link in the correct spot, and trim the rod down.

You get the idea here. Might try an come up with a high idle solution while I'm at it.

Added an impulse elbow to the top plate, used some jb to secure it in, filled my oops, as the original impulse passage in the carb body while I was at it.

Yup. Unloaded rpm doesn't really have anything to do with how a saw cuts loaded.
My friend was over today and tried a couple of saws. Stock ms260 I rebuilt and the 350 I got from Wiggs.
He is a Stihl guy but said the 350 was way faster. For the hell of it I reached the two saws, 260 was at 14k, 350 was 12.8k.

Here it is at 12,900. That's where it tuned in wood. 12,900 is the free spool at current H setting. Rpm in wood unknown.

14" picco bar.

I really need to build a saw horse.

I'm pretty happy.

That is definitely quicker. Very nice work. I belive the picco setup works best on these saws.

Not sure it needs an unlimited coil. In wood, it tuned lower than the coil max rpm.

I don't think it is a nessity. If nothing else it helps with tuning the saw.

Still curious, going to try and get my carb finished tomorrow. Just to see if it gains anything.

Did you end up getting a coil? Does it look swappable?

No Joe. But I can look for u.

Your saw has less comp but you clearanced the cylinder extension. You certainly could be more rpm limited than me, in terms of where the saw wants to be.

I can believe I'm saying it, but I'm done with mine. It starts and idles well. Very light and nimble. Ballsy. And I could toss a 20" on it if need be. Truly a one saw plan if you're patient with the bigger stuff.

You are correct, but in a limbing situation, the saw dosent always clean up. Say 4" and under.

You are both correct nothing is gained in bar buried situations, but with this saw being on par with most 40cc in weight. It can be made into a well rounded saw, that is where the extra rpm I am looking for will come into play.

Not a big deal on the coil, already ordered a couple, will check first hand when they arrive.

I have this feeling, (may just be in my head) but really think my saw wants to be around 14k.

Nothing wrong with that, I would he happy to own your saw just the way it is.

I am just trying to get the last .0000255 percent out of it ;)

She's running really good.

Yes you need a saw horse. We need to keep you safe to keep building sweet saws

People are saying the saw sounds too fat in the video.

Not sure if it's the device they are listening on or not.

I basically let the saw warm up, then got it fat. I noodled a large stump and leaned it out just to the point where the 4 stroking went away.

Granted, that was with the little 14" bar buried and noodling, so maybe it needs a bit less fuel in something that will create less drag.

What are your opinions on the tune of my saw in the video?

I haven't tried it with/without the AF cover on. I don't see it having enough flow through the the idle adjust hole and the small duct that goes to the flywheel area.
