Sounds fat to me too Al. But I find that myself. I'll tune to what I think is the ragged edge, video it, and then I can hear the four stroking better in the video. I'm not sure why.
In your video it sounded like it cleaned up at the heaviest loads. So it's a good tune for burying the bar, but if you were doing a lot of limbing, which is probably more appropriate for this saw, it will be fat, and it could use those revs for limbing anyways.
But sometimes a saw just cuts better when it's a hair fat anyways, lean it a bit and see what you think...

I haven't tried it with/without the AF cover on. I don't see it having enough flow through the the idle adjust hole and the small duct that goes to the flywheel area.
I'm not sure on the echo's but on a husky with air injection, the opening looks small but that air is under pressure. Kinda like a supercharger.

It sounded like it was four stroking at the beginning of the cut and cleaned up about 1/4 of the way through the log.

Fine with the 20" bar, If it was me I'd lean it a hair for the 14"

People are saying the saw sounds too fat in the video.

Not sure if it's the device they are listening on or not.

I basically let the saw warm up, then got it fat. I noodled a large stump and leaned it out just to the point where the 4 stroking went away.

Granted, that was with the little 14" bar buried and noodling, so maybe it needs a bit less fuel in something that will create less drag.

What are your opinions on the tune of my saw in the video?

It sounds pretty good, just a tad fat, for a 14" bar. Couple swipes on the rakers you would be good to go.

If I am going to be cutting that size or smaller wood, I like the saw to clean up as soon as the chain touches the wood. Or very light pressure. But with an 18" and bucking big rounds twhere you have it would be the sweet spot.

It largely depends on the saw, some run faster slightly rich, and some slightly lean. You just have to find a rpm that feels best for how you are cutting.

Small wood/limbing dosent need as much fuel/cooling as bar buried bucking cuts.

What chain is that?
PS,PS3 Or the picco semi chisel?

I'm the same way. Not sure why either. Listening from a different angle I guess. Maybe someone can pop over and ask ChrisPA he seems to be the "expert" on saw tuning via cellphone.

Al it sounded 9/96th of a turn fat for limbing to me. So says the fancy Flux Under Capacitating Kickulator I built in my mom's garage. Also if you play the video backwards the saw sings @Mastermind has chicken legs all the live long day.

Lol! I love it.

The chain is actually Picco Micro. So semi chisel.

I went with that cause I had 2 new chain hanging in my garage for the past 4 years and obviously the bar. It was just cheaper.

I have a 7 pin 3/8 sprocket on it. I bet an 8 would really be nice.

EDIT: Looks like an 8 doesn't exist.

All the vids of my 026 are with the Carlton semi chisel version of pm. I don't have a square chisel version to compare though.

Your 026 is fast.

What are the numbers and did u cut the band Kevin?
I originally took .020 off the base and sanded squish. A month ago I went back in and took another .020 off the base and cut squish with a mandrel to get compression up. Numbers aren't in front of me, but I'm thinking 104 118

Carb on the left is the one I opened up.

Old and new choke plate.

Stock echo carb on the right. Modified on the left.

Good thing I pulled the welch.

Hacked away the throttle stop plate, as it was hitting the intake wall. Only to find out my other replacement carb has the correct stop. Lol

Like a glove.....

With modified carb, same test log as stock.

Has a pop to the idle I have never noticed before, sounds just like a 346 now.

Dumb luck the carb even worked.

Lookin a Great Joe.

Rpm?

Same, set at 12,900. 13,200 is all my coil will go.

Does look to have picked up almost a second. Feels like more torque and throttle response. I think it liked it.

Coils should be here Tuesday, hopefully I will be home to try them out.

If you don't have a gallon through it don't worry about a tad rich. If ghat coil is anything like the 330T 360t it won't pull much more rpm anyways
