Echo 2511t.. Thoughts?

Tell him to quit being so cheap lol. As @Ketchup already mentioned, processing limbs on the ground is 50cc saw territory. He's actually wasting money when you think of it...I'm pretty sure a 261 is actually less money than a 201tcm, yet he's wearing out expensive climbing saws on the ground.

I don't disagree with you one bit. I'm not heavily invested in trying to sort out his lack of rationality. I don't make enough for that. I'm trying to keep my head down, learn as much as I can, and keep my eyes on the prize. I'm not interested in the top handle discussion for him... I'm trying to outfit myself, for myself. My saws will not be going to work for him.

There’s your angle. Put a 2511 in the climbers hands. He’ll either get it or he’s hopeless. The boss usually goes for what the climbers want.

Keep your diaper on. You may crap your pants in the near future.

I expect anything above 20 feet up, with a saw in hand will lead to some potentially pooped pants. I'm starting low and slow. But I'm also starting late in life... So that's in mind too.

Who do you work for?

I run my 2511 with a stihl carving bar and 1/4 .050 chain. Not a fan of the panther chain. I bought one of the Egan performance pipes for mine. Have not used enough yet to have a solid opinion on the pipe.

Is that carving bar a direct fit? I just wore out a panther bar and I’m looking for something else.

Some things about all people, especially myself, don't make sense. I don't want to give folks a bad impression about him or his company or work ethic. He's careful, and thorough, that's why he has work. @Mastermind suggested the 1/4 chain as well.

Yeah the stock bar with the 3/8 lp vibrates pretty bad. The saw doesn’t come that way in Europe. No idea why echo USA felt it necessary to outfit them that way here.

Chain availability? Is the stock one 3/8 50? Or 63?

@Woodpecker yes the bar is direct fit. You would have to add a drive link to the chain though.

Here is the part number for the bar 3005 000 3205. It is 1/4" pitch .050 gauge 12". Dime tip hard nose.

The chain would be 13rm 65DL

1/4" sprocket is echo number A556-001710

Stihl also makes a 3005 mount 14" 1/4pitch .050 gauge regular rollomatic e bar part # 3005 000 6409 dont know how well it would fit, just throwing it out there.

Needs a new or stretched hole for the tensioner. Otherwise works.

I didn't take it that way. Was just wondering as I know quite a few tree guys in the central md area.

Some guys never really want to think outside the box on saws ,rigging or most things for that matter.

I think you would be happy with the 2511 with 1/4 pitch bar and chain as a climbing saw, will be good for trimming and smaller take downs. Especially as an entry level climber.

Once you have some time in a harness/saddle i would also recommend a 201t.

I didn't have to make a new hole or elongated the tensioner hole. Not sure if guys where trying to run 64DL chain and thats why? I use 65dl chain with no issues

That makes sense then if you are trying to run the standard 64 dl loop for a 12" bar. Guess thats why i had no problem just added a link.

I’m running 14”. Part number. 3005 008 3409, S14437214. 72dl. Adding one link might not be enough. 2 would do it.

You may be running the wider nose bar. Probably a more durable option.
