Not a bad ideaPopped in bacon grease.
I found Dominator to have the same effectI saw a video on YT where the fella runs a tank or two of mix with red armor and and shows where it cleaned basically all the carbon off of the spark arrester screen. He swears by the red armor, one reason why I gave it a try. Have been thinking of trying a couple of tanks of dominator just out of curosity to see if there is a noticable difference, I do know there are some folks that have very strong opinions on oil.
Likely even better yet. It’s definitely cleaner than red armor. Just needs more of it to leave residual oil in the caseI found Dominator to have the same effect
I find myself just generally cutting and do very little if any racing. 30+ years of running 50:1 SaberI think amsoil considers dominator a racing type oil vs saber general type use. Both are quality oils I would use whichever one you can get easy and have good luck with. I think saber has more fuel stabilizers in it than dominator
Dom has corrosion inhibitors like the others but no fuel stabilizer. I use it because it’s more readily available in 1 quart jugs with the sight window on the side for measuring and it burns cleaner. The stabilizer would be the only reason I’d use it over dominator in a saw if your fuel sits for a long time. Between the mower, Ranger, backpack blowers and saws, I end up getting 10 gallons of E free every couple months anyway so it‘s not an issue
They didn’t used to offer it in quarts or gallons, but I see they do now.Why can't you buy saber by the gallon as well ?
FWIW, I run Dominator at 32:1 in my fleet of saws, which see daily use logging hardwoods in the upper Midwest. They start easy, run crisp, and never foul plugs. I love this stuff.
I guess I missed that as being an optionI bought saber in quarts years ago.
| Feature | Dominator | Saber |
|---|---|---|
| Target Application | Racing/high-performance engines | General purpose & everyday tools |
| Mix Ratio | ~50:1 (richer) AMSOIL | ~100:1 (leaner, more economical) Performance Oil Technology |
| Protection Level | Very high (film strength, anti-wear) AMSOIL | Excellent for everyday use The Best Oil |
| Heat Handling | Excellent in extreme heat/RPMs AMSOIL | Good, but geared toward normal operating conditions The Best Oil |
| Cleaner Burning / Smoke | Good, but focus is protection | Very good — low smoke/odor Best Oil Group |
| Cost Efficiency | Higher cost per gallon of mix | Lower cost per gallon of mix Performance Oil Tech |
Ive done that and its EXCELLANT particularly when dusted with cheddar cheese powderPopped in bacon grease.
I believe they’re about the same price if you can find saber in the 1 quart jugs. Like I mentioned earlier, usually around here it’s in smaller bottles so it’s actually more expensiveIMO In the end Dom is overkill unless you can get it as cheap as Saber.
That would be 16:1.Couldn't you just put 4 gallons in a 5 gallon jug and toss in a quart.
