Damn man looks great!!!!

What brand is your square grinder....I can't imaging barely touching the tie strap like that would hurt anything.....

I have never ran a square ground chain in my life, would love to try one!!!!

Does the edge last as long a regular chisel chain????
I sell stihl square ground chain, 3/8 and .325 and 3/8 picco if you ever wanna try some, let me know

Hey thanks for offer.... I may buy some 3/8 off of ya sometime.... atleast it would be easier to learn how hand file-square on a chain with the correct cutter profile already on it!!!!!!

I've heard of a raker grinder like that, but can't find it. Do you know what kind it is or a link to it?
Thanks

I've also have not had any luck with grinding chains for $$$. I've got decent equipment round/square/raker grinders and know how use them. Put together a nice CL add but still maybe get only one bite/month. Every customer is always very satisfied w/results. Not sure what I'm doing wrong. (Perhaps I charge too much?)https://reno.craigslist.org/for/5875383139.html
I now consider it purely a hobby, which I'm fine with.

Don't know why you aren't getting any work, Them teeth look great. My problem is, I get very worn chain and takes forever to get rite. I'm thinking about raising my price for rocked and bad worn chain.
Your thoughts?

How long does it normally take you to sharpen a 20" chain?

Oh man I don't know.....since I usually just do mine I am in no hurry.... I have done some as fast and accurate as I can, seemed to go quick, however I used to hand-file.... I would say if the chains ain't been used to cut concrete I can knock it and rakers out in 5-7 minutes....under 10 minutes for sure....Is that about right?!?!

It kind of depends on the type of cutting their doing. Generally speaking most customers do like square once they try it. Most around here haven't heard of it before.

Depends on how you measure your time. Include ?: set up; inspecting links; inspecting each grind; checking depth gauges; marking/tagging; lubricating; etc.?

My guess is about 15 minutes per average chain. But I am not going for speed. Could never make money at it, unless I set up some different procedures, and was less fussy.

But then it would also be more like work and less like a hobby.

The cheapest the local Stihl saw shop will sharpen a 20" chain for is $12, (they don't do square either), so I set my price well below theirs. Can't see doing it for a whole lot less. I like to take my time and do a good job of it. 20-25 minutes for me is not uncommon. I have a small but loyal following takes a while to get the word out I guess...

I used to grind some for people. It can turn into work and rocked chains are no fun on a square grinder with a blue or salmon wheel. If I was going to do it again I'd get a round grinder with cbn wheel to knock the damage off and then square them

Takes me around 30 mins. What do y'all think about this. I just bought a older simington, prob paid to much, but was wanting to put more aggressive wheel on it to get all my rocked cutters close, without burning. Did I just waste my money? It's a older 450 and I'm pretty sure parts are no longer available.

Most of my customers bring me pretty rolled chain, 7 mins is impressive for someone just starting out. What are you cutting the rakers with?
